5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful stand
This stand is what I expected and more. It took me about an hour to put together, but everything fit like a glove. the package even came with a pen to cover any scratches (which i did'nt need). the stand is low to the ground placing my 46' LG flat screen at a perfect height. It has a lot of room in the cabinets. I placed my PS3 in the left-hand side cabinet, my Xbox in...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. Think IKEA & dowels!
I definitely love the way this looks, but at the end of the day it is just pure crap. I am amazed at the positive reviews because this is clearly nothing more then press-board/dowels IKEA crap. The silver plastic stands at the bottom even cracked on me while I was putting this together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great TV stand., May 5, 2009

This TV stand is great. It was really easy to put together even by myself over a couple of beers. It looks really good with glass doors and real metal not plastic door handles and shelf supports. Now all I need is a new TV to go with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great stand, November 27, 2010
This review is from: South Shore City Life TV Stand
My wife and bought this via Amazon and had it shipped to her job. Everything came unbroken. Like mentioned above, this also came with a fix-it crayon for future dings. This IS particle board, but it's a low, compact and sturdy nonetheless.

We have our TV mounted on the wall just above this unit, with a turntable and receiver where the TV would normally sit. PS3 in the left cabinet, Xbox 360 in the right, CD player and tape deck in-between, and our DirecTV box under where the TV would sit. Before we had the TV mounted on the wall, we had it sitting on the unit for a few weeks with no worries, weight-wise.

Video game controllers work with no problems though the frosted cabinet doors.

Shelves in the cabinets also allow for controller storage, and there's space to each side of the TV area for DVDs, games, candles, whatever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful stand, but heavy!!, March 22, 2011

This review is from: South Shore City Life TV Stand
Don't get me wrong, this entertainment center is very sleek (I got the Chocolate color), but man is it heavy! I guess perhaps I'm used to Ikea-type weight to my furniture, I dunno. If you put some fabric coasters underneath the legs, it's easy enough to move around on a hardwood floor though.

Instructions work well enough, but it'll take some time to put this thing together; it comes with a lot of parts and pieces.

Mine unfortunately came with an crack along the the top panel of the stand, but because of the weight/size of this thing it's too inconvenient for me to ship back... they do include a colored pen to mask any imperfections, so I'll just end up using that to hide it.

But overall, it's a very sturdy, nice-looking piece of furniture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Enough, April 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The product is nice in appearance, not too difficult to assemble, and sold at a reasonable price. The height is ideal for large HD LCD TV's and has more than enough room for the accessories and cable boxes. The parts are numbered or lettered - a tremendous help, and the hardware is segregated - and there are extras hardware pieces just in case. Does require, at times, a second set of hands to help secure the large awkward pieces, but all in all, about an hour and fifteen minutes to assemble.

This is a very nice piece, indeed. It was simple to assemble, and is very sturdy. I have a 55" Aquos on top of it, with a dvd, satellite box, Yamaha Surround receiver and Xbox on the shelves. There is plenty of room for DVD's, CD's or even accessories, books or whatever in the 2 glass door ends. it does not have the least bit of "give" or shake, and the best part-- it looks fine! I wish there were other pieces that match, as this would be a nice "theme" for all the furniture in the room.
I have seen many lesser quality, less attractive units for much more $$$.

5.0 out of 5 stars South Shore Tv Stand, March 10, 2011

Absolutely love it!! I got within a week after purchasing it. I was happy to see they took pride in packaging it. It arrived without any missing parts, scratches, or dents. It took a couple hours to build and directions were easy to follow. I thought the white part was plastic, but its actually glass. Overall, it looks exactly like the photo and it's very sturdy. FYI legs are plastic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Decent, December 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: South Shore City Life TV Stand
General:

Although there are several reviews under other sellers (including Amazon) for this exact same model stating that it arrived scratched or dented, mine arrived perfectly intact. As for the sets it can accommodate, at 37", mine isn't especially large, but the base of this stand certainly could handle a 50" set with no problem; however, keep in mind that the television's actual screen will be wider than the shelf that's supporting it if you go that route.

Assembly:

It didn't appear to be that big of a deal (I didn't do it myself), but if you're more accustomed to snap/slide together IKEA type units, you might find this one slightly frustrating, as there's a chance you might have to do a bit a tweaking on the shelf doors with a hammer. The friend who put mine together had to give the hinges more than a few decent whacks with a hammer to get them to align properly so that the doors would open and close smoothly without scratching or scraping against the top or bottom shelves.

Price:

At the time of my purchase, the seller had it listed for $209. All things considered, I believe this is about right, but I wouldn't pay more (they currently have it at $279). If you can purchase this around or below the $200 range, including shipping, I think you'll be quite pleased.

Overall:

Considering this unit is made from particle board, it's much better than I probably had a right to expect.

Grade: B

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice stand., August 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is a really nice product. Though it takes time to assemble it was very easy to assemble. The instructions it comes with makes it very easy to assemble. We are using this for our 40" Sony flat screen television. I can say this stand made our living room all the more beautiful. It has a lot of cabinets in which we can organize most of our stuff as we like. I highly recommend this unit

I was pretty happy with my purchase - what you see is basically what you get. The legs that every1 keeps complaining about weren't a problem for me because it kinda got lost in my carpet but i understand what every1 says about the look of it compared to the unit as a whole. The building part was fun - so easy but they're right you do need two ppl. All in all I am very happy about my purchse - now to get some decorations to go on it :)
