Reasonable quality, Missing Parts, Inept Customer Service,

I purchased this dresser as a stop gap solution since I just moved into a new home.
For $60, you get a reasonable quality dresser. South of Ikea quality, but not laughable. That is, of course, if you receive all the appropriate pieces. The unit I received had an extra drawer left side, but one too few right sides. No problem, right? South Shore says they will ship you replacement parts free of charge. So three weeks and several phone calls later, I received my replacement part: The backing plate to an entirely different dresser. I've submitted another request for parts and I patiently await their response. Based on my interaction so far, I expect to receive a tea kettle, several rubber bands, and the Best of Earth, Wind and Fire on vinyl.

Make no mistake - this product is of cheap quality, and looks much better in the photo than when you receive the package. That being said, it isn't that bad, especially considering that you are paying 60 bucks with no shipping for a 3 shelf dresser. You won't find anything for that price at any store if you are on a budget. The parts are also cheap, and the shelves are secured by plastic pieces that you hammer into each shelf. The value isn't bad and I would recommend this if you are just looking for some basic storage and nothing fancy.

Let me just say that I knew I wasn't purchasing a high quality dresser when I bought this. I wanted something small, attractive and relatively sturdy.
I got what I wanted. I have now had this dresser for a few months- and it is still in great condition. It took us about 30 minutes? if that to put it together. The directions were very clear and it came with all the pieces we needed. Great for a child's bedroom. ONE tiny complaint. Due to the material, it is easy to see finger prints. Luckily for us, it sits in an area of the room that doesn't get significant light... so this isn't really a problem for us.

Decent for price but strong noxious odor,

I am returning this dresser. I saw the other comments about the strong odor emitting from this dresser but ignored them because I figured after a week or so it would outgas to the point of being less bothersome. But it did not. Then I researched why there was a noxious odor coming from the dresser. I found out that formaldehyde (currently classified as a carinogen) is causing the odor, coming from the resin that holds the wood particles together in the particle board. It could take 6 months to several years to outgas to a level that would not be noticeable, and even then do I really want to risk my and my family's health even though the smell would be less when I can get real wood for a little more $. You may have other products in the house that are made of particle board but this one is particularly bad in the strength of this odor- perhaps because of the amount of it that is open to the air without any seal or veneer, on the inside particularly. It is bad enough that being manufactured in Canada, I question whether it is in compliance with allowed formaldehyde emission levels in the US, especially California which I believe has the strictest standards.
Odor aside the dresser was good for the price. But considering that material cost for making something like this is a small percentage of total production cost versus labor and overhead, it probably would have cost less than $10 to make this from real hardwood and I would pay $10 more. This will never happen though until consumers take a stand by not buying these materials.

the drawer smells really bad! we had it for a week now but we can't use it due to the strong smell. we purchased it for the baby and we can't put it in his room. there were few scratches on the drawer and minor damage on the corner.it's no use for now until we get rid of that smell. i should have listened what people said about the strong odor. if you still want to buy it, make sure when you open the package, smell the wood first before putting it together. so it's not too late/hassle to return it. good luck on buying.

I am writing this because i am very disappointed with this purchase. The top of the dresser has some visible line on the edges which makes me feel that it has not been done correctly. The top of the dresser had some wood chipped off when i got the dresser. It has some scratches on the top and some other places. Wood quality is very cheap and you will have to be very careful while assembling it otherwise you will end up chipping it from different places. This is my worst ever buy online and very disappointed with it. the wood smells like some chemical. Spend some more bucks and get a better quality dresser.

Absolute Disaster,

This product is IMPOSSIBLE to put together. The quality of the board is so bad that any attempt to affix the board to the bolts supplied destroys the connective socket. I now have a pile of waste wood, and $60 poorer. FAIL!

VERY HARD TO PUT TO TOGETHER. DRAWERS WILL NOT STAY ON TRACK AND FALL DOWN EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE DRAWERS. I would return it if it would not be so difficult and would cost too much in shipping. I would be happy if I got my money back on this. Don't buy it.
