These arrived on time. I ordered a set of two, however they were EXTREMELY heavy and in a long rectangle box. So moving them was really just such a pain. Of course i live in NYC, so it was more difficult to bring these up to my apartment than it should have been. They are pretty simple to put together. Best of all they look very nice and they are sturdy. I would absolutely recommend these.

The shelves sagged noticeably within one day, with only moderate weight on them. The laminate was not applied all the way on each shelf, so the particle board is visible at the edges. I was compelled to write my first review because of how bad this product is.

This is not a smart buy. The quality of the construction is extremely poor. The material is particle board with a cheap laminate which will peel up and wear with normal usage.

The shelves are not sturdy enough to properly support the weight of books. Within a year, they sag and bend visibly. Avoid this and similar products. Spend the extra money and get bookshelves made of real wood or metal, which will last for many years - even generations. I still have some inherited wood bookshelves from my grandparents, and they have not sagged at all after holding books for over 50 years. That is how furniture should be built.

Avoid this poor furniture.

The bookcase is very easy to assemble. The instruction says two people should do it, but I was able to do it by myself and I don't have much experience with building things. It is also very classy and stylish.

These cabinets were very easy to put together and are surprisingly sturdy. The price was excellent and they came packaged very well. They are a bit heavy to carry by yourself but I'll take the extra weight for the sturdiness.

I ordered two of the 5-shelf bookcases for my living room. They arrived together. One, however, was damaged. After taking the pieces out of the box, we noticed one of the side boards was cracked down the middle, width-wise. There was no way of telling if it happened during packing or during shipping. The other was fine. They are a nice dark brown color. The assembly is simple; my husband and I put the first one toghther. When the replacement (amazon was very quick to ship a replacement, which was flawless) arrived, I was able to put it together with the help of my 7-yr old son. The finished product is sturdy and is well worth the price.

I cannot believe this qualifies for free shipping! It weighs like 70 pounds!

Arrived quickly considering it was a freight item. There were a couple of gouges in the box so I was a little worried to open it up, but there was enough Styrofoam protecting it and boards were fine. No flaws at all.

It did take quite a while to assemble (3 episodes of Gossip Girl on Netflix) but it was REALLY easy. Having a power screwdriver made it a breeze. I didn't realize when I bought it that 3 of the shelves have pegs/holes and can be adjusted in height. Nice for my over-sized books. For the price, the quality and aesthetic are great. Target/Ikea grade but even lower in price. The ONLY thing, some day in the near future I might pick up some new pegs to support the adjustable shelves. The ones it came with are pretty chintzy.

Regardless, definitely recommend.

My husband and I purchased four of these bookshelves in January 2010. We were looking for something that was inexpensive and simple, yet fairly sturdy. The bookshelves we received were easy to put together. However, as mentioned by other reviewers, they are heavy once assembled. For the most part we are very pleased with the purchase. The reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is due to the color. The color is closer to black then it is to chocolate.

The bookshelf that I ordered from Amazon was poorly made. The delivered box weighed about 65-70 pounds.
After opening the box and taking the shelving out, my husband began trying to put it together.
The screws provided did not fit the drilled holes. Upon further inspection, we noticed one of the side shelves was
badly cracked and coming apart. Called Amazon and they sent me a shipping label to retun it.
Only problem was we had to find a way to take it to the UPS store. The box was so heavy and long that
It was not an easy job.

The bookcase was easy to assemble, however, the components are extremely flimsy and I would not suggest using this bookcase for heavy items. The cardboard back is creased in 3 places for shipping and very fragile. We did our best to put objects in front of the creases. You get what you pay for and we plan to purchase a better quality bookcase that seems more appropriate in our family room.
