We looked in so many area furniture stores for a FULL size bookshelf headboard-NO ONE had one. We know people who build furniture, but our budget didn't allow for this. We found this and it matches my daughter's room perfectly! She's an avid reader, so the bookshelf feature was a "must". She's 13 and put most of it together by herself !!!

Bought this headboard in combination with this frame Handy Living Full Wood Slat Bed Frame and are very pleased especially considering the amount of money spent. This was for a pre-teen and I suspect this will last through high school from a style perspective. Make no mistake - this is particle board through and through; however, there's no reason it shouldn't last. It didn't get the fifth star because during assembly I made the mistake of holding the top, curved part of the headboard as a weight-bearing piece and it separated from the rest of the headboard. $6 later after a trip to Home Depot I was able to easily fix the damage.

Speaking of trips to Home Depot, I ended up purchasing six pavers or bricks that using three on each side was able to lift this headboard 6" higher off the ground. I'm not knocking any stars off my rating for this for the bed frame (above) was higher off the ground than your normal, bare-bones, 6" high metal bed frame (we wanted the storage space). Nonetheless, if you are using a basic frame with a box spring and mattress then you will be faced with the bed pillows being about the same height as the first row of shelves. Again, the pavers were an easy and cheap (i.e., $10) fix.

One last word on this product - the "Vanilla Cream" color wasn't perfect white it is not any type of an antique color. What you see in the pix is pretty much what you get.

We decided on this one after searching far and wide for a bookcase headboard for my teenage daughter's queen size bed that didnt look like a plain bookcase. She saw this one an said it wasnt ugly like the rest, so we went for it. I know it's just for double bed, but I thought, maybe it wouldnt look bad with her quessn size mattress and decided to wait till it arrived to decide if we should replace her mattress with full sized one. well, after a hour and a half of putting it together with the help of my other grown daughter, we put it in her room and it looks just fine. Only a couple inches difference in the width, and with the bedding you can hardly tell. I did have to raise the height up to match her mattress height since it was on lifts. That was an easy fix. Just put a stack of books under each end and voila! Everything looks great and she is now so organized. All the stuff she kept around her on her bed now has a place of its own off the mattress. Great value and style. Even goes well with her French Provencial furniture. The bookcase headboard is perfect for our daughter who loves decorating her room. The whole for electrical cords makes it very convenient as well.

I purchased this item for my daughter. As we were putting it together the hooks that it came with to assemble kept breaking out of the holes. I ended up putting it together with screws. I will never by another product from South Shore.

Just a tip - to increase the height instead of stone pavers I bought one large 8x6 8 foot wood peice and cut attached an 8 in wood riser. I am now buying 2 more to use backwards as a footboard since it is short it will be the perfect heightbut I am adding white melamine to make the stand up type of shelves one can use so kids can see the book titles and will have 2 of these slanting out at 30 degrees with 2 dividers inside so they do not flop all over...on the back that faces the toes I will cover with a padding and pretty fabric with ribbon so they can have photos and treasures under the ribbons and if their toes hit it is soft

Super fast delivery and really solid construction. Tons of storage and looks great. My only complaint, which is not of the headboard, is that this is behind a platform bed, so the bed is high and the pillows are right where the shelves are, so we can't lean them up on the headboard.
