I like this Platform bed a lot. It took a while for me to put together, only because the instructions say 2 people are needed for assembly, but knowing how I am, I proceeded to do it by myself. 3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, October 9, 2007

The bed took about 2 hours to put together with 2 people. It came damaged (one of the boards that you lay the mattress on itself had a corner w/ particle board broken off), and there isn't really anything you can do about it. The molding around the bed didn't come with holes drilled into it, but it is soft so you have to force the screws into the molding itself, all the while from the bottom up (hardest part of putting it together). Some screws don't screw in tightly to the base boards. The molding is only held on by about 6 screws on the very edge of a board, and putting any force on it at all bends it/break it.

Overall, you get what you pay for. It is made from cheap particle board for the most part, with visible unpainted/uncovered bits at certain places. However it does its job and looks decent. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a platform bed from a local furniture store instead so you don't risk not being able to return damaged goods and can have a real look at it.

I like this Platform bed a lot. It took a while for me to put together, only because the instructions say 2 people are needed for assembly, but knowing how I am, I proceeded to do it by myself. So for those of you who are concerned about putting it together by yourself (women especially, since I'm a woman), it can be done. It's not necessarily hard, just time consuming (for one person) so make sure you have the time to put it together. I've been sleeping on it for about a month now. It really compliments the comfort of my mattress. I sleep great every night. It seems to be pretty sturdy too, so I'm not afraid that it might fall apart on me. There's a 5 year warranty on it--not long--but I'm in a transition right now, so 5 years is about right for me. I recommend to buy this bed if you're considering a nice, sleek, modern bed for a short period of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but alittle confusing., December 12, 2008
This review is from: South Shore Furniture, Basic Collection, Queen Platform Bed with Moulding 60", Black (Baby Product)
I bought this platform for my new memory foam mattress. It looks great but was a bit confusing to put together. My brother put it together in about an hour but we did have to take it apart at one point and switch things around. If you purchase this product be sure to take your time putting it together to ensure you will not have rework at the end. Not sure how great it will be if I ever move and have to take it a part and put it back together. It is made of pressed particle board. Overall does the job and looks very nice.

I think this is a good bed for the money. Its cheap, looks pretty darn good, is comfortable and low to the ground. The only thing i would have liked to see is 4 mouldings instead of the 3. It would have made it so the bed does not have to be put against a wall to hide the side with no moulding. It is relatively easy to put together but it does require 2 people to completely install unless you're just that gangsta.

Easy assembly. Doable with one person.. you just have to be a little creative! It's not amazing quality of course. It is functional and worth the money. Would buy again if needed.

The base of this bed is easy enough to put together, and even though it's made from cheap particle-board (hence the low price), it seems stable enough. The real problem started for me when we started to put the actual mattress platform on the base. The four boards weren't cut evenly, so it was impossible to get them to line up perfectly. As a result, the screw holes didn't always line up with the supporting boards that they were meant to screw into. I had to unscrew and reset a couple of the platform boards before getting it good enough to proceed. Even then some of the screws *really* didn't want to go in all the way.

The real hassle, however, is the molding. The molding itself has no screw-holes, and you're supposed to manually drill the screws into the molding as the final step of assembly. Now, maybe mine was just a fluke, but it was completely impossible to screw the provided screws more than a little way into the molding. It's not soft at all; I even propped it up against a wall and tried an electric screwdriver, but even that couldn't budge them even halfway. I couldn't even drive a nail into it. Then I tried gluing the molding on, but it still wouldn't take. My choice was to either leave the molding off (and leave exposed the sharp particle-board edges) or to have them halfway screwed on, uneven and wobbly. The last straw was when, in the process of fiddling with it over several hours, some of the cheapass pieces broke. Eventually I called it quits, tore it apart, and put it out by the trash. I would have returned it for a refund, had that been feasible.

To make a long story short, I spent an entire evening and $140 for nothing. My advice: Save your money for something better quality than this. Some things are just so cheaply made that even a low price doesn't justify their shoddiness.

First of all, if you buy this, you probably should stay at home and wait for the UPS, because is not easy to be taken home.
I have read some of the reviews says it's not easy to be assembled, but i didn't feel that way, it is pretty easy to be done.
The material quality seams ok, don't expect it to a nice quality one for this price.
It's about the right height if you just put a mattress on, but i dont like that way. I put on a thin bed pillow top bought from IKEA, which make me feel really comfortable.
I dont think you need the head board, it's too expensive for the bed price.

I had the full size version and recently bought a queen size mattress. As previously stated, the holes are off. to attach the lip, make sure you have a robertson (square) head bit, phillips just tear up the screws. I had the previous platform for 4 years now and no complaints.

I took a chance and made a decision as I had company coming for the holiday. The platform bed arrived via ONE VERY LARGE BOX and ONE VERY OVERWORKED UPS DRIVER. It was almost dark when I heard a loud noise outside so I went to the door and saw the UPS man trying with all his might to lift the large box off of his handtruck onto the porch. Of course, he had dropped it and the box had a large rip. It was heavy. I offered to help him lift it onto the porch but proceeded to just help him carry it in after I realized this was not something I could do alone. #1) It is heavy and all parts come in one box #2) In my case, not all parts were in the one box (maybe due to the tearing of the box) #3)There are pieces that do not have the covered molding (so it looks like pressed board in one section)

That is all I have to say. I would not buy if offered the chance to do so again. Not worth it. Go to a thrift store and spend the same money on a wooden frame and it will look much better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good finished product, Terrible instructions., April 25, 2010
This review is from: South Shore Furniture, Basic Collection, Queen Platform Bed with Moulding 60", Black (Baby Product)
This bed platform looks great and gets the job done at a reasonable price. The instructions, however, were horrendous. The pieces were poorly identified and it was a follow the picture step by step style instruction manual and the pictures didn't even match up. I have put together a half a dozen pieces this week alone, and this was by far the worst instruction manual I have seen.
