I wanted a pantry for my kitchen. But I have a very nice kitchen with beautiful cherry wood cabinets so I didn't want something that looked out-of-place or like it belonged in a utility room. This cabinet delivered! It is beautiful. I am a 41-year-old single mother and there is no man in my house to put things together for me. I am so proud to say that I was able to do it myself and the unit is so well made there were no issues at all with holes not matching up or being in the wrong place. And, everything works, even the doors lock! This is a truly lovely piece of furniture.

The cabinet's picture is a good representation; actual color is just a bit darker. The cabinet itself is very sturdy, well worth the price, which was the cheapest I was able to find anywhere online. The only issue I had was the fact that it was shipped without the hinges included, but I was able to easily contact South Shore and get that resolved-they shipped from Quebec to California in less than a week.

I absolutely love this cabinet!! I needed something for storage in the office and this fit exactly what I was looking for!!! Great shelf spacing for multi use storage and it even locks!!! Very nice looking and quality to match!! If I had room for a second one I would buy one!!

Super fast shipping! Bought it to put all of my kids games in. I can get them all in, plus more stuff! Plus now they can only play with one game at a time, since Mom can lock it!! No more picking up games! Not to hard to put together, my Husband & Dad put it together in an afternoon.

This could be a beautiful cabinet. But....
* It arrived damaged...not just dented, but severely damaged. Shipping packaging was ripped and torn.
* Quality of workmanship is horrible. Several pieces were dented and marred. Some had scratches in the veneer.
* It even came with a touch up pen, so that told me the manufacturer knew it was going to arrive with flaws......sad, no pride in quality there.
* Had to call customer support (in Quebec). The one side piece had a whole corner broke off and the top (along the front) was dented and crushed. And the top was INSIDE the shipping container, not on an outside edge! Can't blame that on shipping!
* Customer service wouldn't replace the whole thing because less than 50% of the parts were damaged, so they sent replacement pieces.
* Took almost 3 weeks to get the replacement parts.
* The replacement parts even arrived dented; but have to admit, not from shipping, but from the manufacturer. These pieces appeared adequately protected for shipping.
* Took several hours and 3 people to put together. The instructions were rediculous and insufficient.
* The door's don't line up properly.
* The lock is a joke. Don't expect it to keep anyone out.
* I had to use the pen to touch up all the edges because the veneer had visible gaps.

I'm keeping it because we went to way too much trouble putting the thing together and trying to ship this back to Canada would be cost prohibitive. It's intended for storage, not display which is a good thing. IF it had been intended for display, I would have refused the initial delivery. It will serve the intended purpose of storage and will probably end up in my garage when that purpose is expired.

The sad part is, that if made with slightly better materials (instead of pressboard) and shipped in packaging sufficient to protect it, it really could be a nice looking, solid cabinet. It's size is perfect for my small space. It's shelves are divided nicely for organizing things.

But you get what you pay for....it is a cheap cabinet, made of cheap pressboard, that will arrive damaged.

I needed a cabinet for my family room that I could use to hide some computer equipment so the room would not look messy. I also wanted it to look nice and match my hardwood floors. I chose this cabinet because it met my needs and was relatively inexpensive.

I was a little hesitant because I read other reviews and damage during shipping was a prominent theme. I eventually decided to take the gamble and order the cabinet.

When the cabinet arrived the box was in bad shape. Essentially the cabinet is packed with sheets of styrofoam separating the cabinet pieces but nothing besides the cardboard box itself protecting the contents from external damage. Although pieces of cardboard about 1/2 inch thick are glued to the edges of the box, these were almost all ripped off by the time the box was delivered to me. Also, the flat sides of the box are vulnerable to damage, so anything that hits the sides of the box hard enough to tear it will definitely leave a mark on the cabinet. Fortunately, the pieces of the cabinet are placed in the box so that anything that penetrates the box will scratch the inside surface. If the box is dropped on any of its edges, though the chances that the cabinet pieces will be chipped, bent, or broken is high.

The cabinet did suffer a 6 inch scratch on the inside of one of the panels, but compared to some of the other reviews the damage was rather light. I decided to keep the cabinet and I liked it enough that I eventually ordered another one. The second one received more damage than the first - it had a scratch but also had a small corner break off of one of the side panels.

Bottom line - the cabinet is pretty nice for the price if it isn't damaged during shipping.

I have now ordered 2 of these cabinets. The first one came, and once we got the "box" off, it was completely busted. I use the term "box" loosely--it was really just cardboard wrapped around it with plastic wrap around that. So, I returned it and ordered one more, hoping it would be better. NOPE!! Same thing--terrible packaging. With the second one, we didn't even have to open it. We could tell from looking at the box it was majorly damaged. Maybe this would be a decent cabinet if the packaging was better, but unless they upgrade to a more padded box, it's a waste of time and money. Will definitely not try it again for a third time.

I didn't even open the box - the packaging was so badly damaged when it arrived that I didn't even have to open it to see that a "finished" piece of the product had been damaged en route.
Now it's a massive 80lb box sitting in my business taking up space and waiting for UPS to pick it up. The problem is that, even though I emailed amazon and Stacks Stacks (the retailer) immediately receiving it, I have only had "automated" replies with no concrete information for pickup. Add slow and inadequate customer service to the mix and voila...bad experience.
....very disappointing.

I read the 1-star reviews where the cabinet was damaged during shipment. Anticipating a damaged shipment I looked at my delivery before it was taken off the UPS truck. It clearly looked like the contents would be damaged because one of the sides of the package was dented in. It's not packaged well enough for an item that weighs 144lbs. I refused to receive the shipment and ordered a replacement from Amazon.

The replacement came about a week later. The packaging on the new one looked much better, although there was a small tear in the cardboard on one side and one of the corners was slightly dented. After opening it we discovered both the top and bottom panels in the box had some damage. I called Amazon - they directed to talk directly to the manufacturer South Shore Furniture.

South Shore has a 5 year warranty on their products and has no issue replacing missing or broken pieces. I ordered replacements of the damaged panels directly online and received them in a week. The replacement parts were well packaged.

I recommend you take delivery of the product and just order replacement parts for the ones that are damaged. This additional step will add a week or so before you will be able enjoy your cabinet.

This is one of those products that you see on here which makes you think of what it could. That's exactly what I was thinking when I purchased three of these without putting more thought into it. At first it seemed like a good deal until I opened up one box, and started to put one together. I had heard about the damage, but as I started opening the box I started to think about how hard it was going to be to package this back up again. There was some small damage here, and there. That can be expected at least some. Although there was damage on the front doors of the product, and nicks which were too large to forgive. I expected Target quality, since this was also on their site for sale. I was wrong. This cabinet is walmart quality. Imagine walmart quality, and then you have it shipped (chance of damage), and then horrible instructions.

The instructions for putting this together were horrible. They weren't detailed, and instead were in very small print. I started to wonder how you could produce a product that sells for almost a couple hundred dollars, and not include good instructions on how to put it together. But, this product is indeed one of those products that makes you scratch your head. The people that rated this product with high ratings are people who settle for a medocre product, and people who just like the value you get. I can say after putting one together that the overall value of this product is not good. I don't expect the cabinet I have here to last very long during times when I have to move (is one example) or if I have to move it somewhere else in the house. The product really isn't solid for many reasons. The locks which are found in many products you buy nowadays are not good. Unlike target locks, which actually lock wood together. These locks are poorly placed, and constructed. You won't have a solid product no matter how hard you put it together. Which comes to my next point.

If you put in a lot of extra work, and are a carpenter, you might be able to make this product a little more sturdy by adding something. I am not going to bother doing that even though I worked over 10 years in the carpentry business, because this product just has poor material to start off with. I just wanted to make it clear that if you order this product, and understand how to wood constructs better, then you might be able to get more out of this product. Also, if you can paint. You might be able to restore some of the finish with the appropriate paint.

Between the instructions, and the poor quality this is just not a good purchase unless you were desperate for a good cabinet. But, after this purchase me and my husband learned not to be desperate. We ended up taking the last two cabinets back, two large men showed up at our door and took them away. That was the best decision we made purchasing on Amazon, was to take the other two cabinets back. As for the one we put together. We use it. It works as a small pantry near our kitchen. The door in front closes on center, but one door sits quite a bit higher than the other. There was some damage that we toughed up. It works for now, but for future purchases we are going to invest in better products. This is not one of them.



Pros- Doors are best part of product, have a decent look to them, color is not bad overall either on the product, cheap for a cabinet - but arguably still not worth the money

Cons- poor quality product overall especially locking mechanisms (that connects wood to wood), poor instructions- the worst I have ever seen on any product



Some products are cheap for a reason. It's because they actually are cheap products with cheap materials etc. I would recommend someone to save up more money, and to buy a nicer cabinet. Perhaps even consider a metal cabinet.
