I READ ALL THE REVIEWS OF THIS PRODUCT BEFORE ORDERING AND I CAN TELL YOU THEY ALMOST MADE ME NOT BUY THE ITEM. I READ REVIEWS OF PEOPLE SAYING STUFF ARRIVED BROKEN, AND OTHERS WHO LOVED IT LEFT ONLY 4 STARS INSTEAD 5, SO THESE REVIEWS REALLY MADE ME HESITATE. AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REAL SHAME FOR ME HAD I NOT ORDERED THIS BED FOR MY SON.
FIRST OFF, WHEN YOUR ITEMS ARRIVE, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GO THROUGH THE PARTS LIST AND CHECK OUT EACH PART AND POSITION THEM NEATLY TO PREPARE BEFORE PUTTING IT TOGETHER. YOU WOULD NOTICE IF A PART WAS BROKEN BEFORE STARTING, AND IF YOU DON'T THEN PERHAPS ORDERING ON LINE AND PUTTING IT TOGETHER YOURSELF ISN'T THE THING FOR YOU.
GETTING A BROKEN PART REPLACED IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM, ALL YOU DO IS CALL SOUTHSHORE AT THEIR TOLLFREE NUMBER 800-290-0465 AND THEY WILL SEND OUT REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR ANYTHING YOU RECEIVE BROKEN, FREE OF CHARGE. THEY ARE GREAT.
THE PRODUCT INFORMATION SAYS IT TAKES 2 PEOPLE TO PUT THIS TOGETHER. NOT TRUE! I AM A 46 YEAR OLD LADY AND NOT IN THE BEST OF SHAPE, AND I PUT THIS TOGETHER ALL BY MYSELF WITH NO PROBLEMS. WHEN THE HEAVY PACKAGE ARRIVED ON MY FRONT PORCH, I SIMPLY TOOK A BOX CUTTER, SLICED THE BOX OPEN CAREFULLY, AND CARRIED THE PARTS INTO THE BEDROOM A FEW AT A TIME.
ANOTHER REVIEW COMPLAINED ABOUT THE DRAWERS, SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF THEM NOT HOLDING ANYTHING HEAVY. WELL, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO PUT IN THEM, HEAVY BOOKS? OUR DRAWERS SLIDE OPEN FINE AND MY SON IS USING THE DRAWERS FOR SOCKS, UNDERGARMENTS, AND THE 3RD FOR LIGHT TOYS HE HAS. NO PROBLEMS.
THE ONLY BAD THING I CAN SAY IS THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH WEIGHT THE BED IS DESIGNED TO HOLD. MY SON WEIGHS 120 LBS AND WILL GET BIGGER.
I SAT ON IT AND IT DIDNT FLINTCH. I JUST TOLD HIM NOT TO JUMP UP AND DOWN ON IT, I MEAN, HOW HARDY DOES A PIECE A FURNITURE HAVE TO BE? IT'S JUST COMMON SENSE, TAKE CARE OF YOUR PURCHASE AND THIS WILL BE A GREAT BED FOR YOUR KID OR TEEN.
THE THING I LIKED BEST ABOUT IT WAS THE PRICE AND THE LOOKS. I PLAN ON ADDING THE MATCHING HEADBOARD AND END TABLES IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
IT IS ALSO REALLY GREAT, IF YOU HAVE PETS SUCH AS CATS THAT GO UNDER YOUR BED AND PLAY AND MAKE NOISE, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GO UNDER THIS BED!

I bought this bed for my camp because of the underbed drawers. It came well packaged and there was no damage to the contents. I unpacked the pieces and hardware packs and laid them out on the floor. I read the instructions. The fasteners were a new kind to me but they worked well. It took me a minute to figure out how they worked. Assembly went smoothly once I got used to the numbering system of the parts and how the parts went together. The bed is sturdy and looks nice. I also ordered the headboard. Assembly of the headboard is similar. I was very satisfied with this bed. I weigh 250 pounds and the bed had no issues with support. I ordered a second bed and it took me about half the time to assemble it. The drawers are sturdy and operate without any problems. I see where some folks have problems assembling this bed. The instructions make you think. You have a satisfied customer here.

I was shopping around looking for a new bed for my 15 year old son. He has had a raised steel platform bed for years. Getting hard for him to climb the ladder up onto it. I ran across this bed on many different websites including Walmart. Prices were all about the same even with free shipping to the store if bought from Walmart. However, with Free Super Saver Shipping from Amazon, it shipped free to my front door. I didn't have to go get it from a store anywhere. It came in just over a week which was fine with me. As for the puting it together, it took a couple hours total, but my 15 year old did most of the work himself. He just needed help in a few areas tightening the screws in some cramped spaces and holding things together. All in all he loves his new bed, and that is what I was really hoping for.

I did see a similar single bed, with storage headboard, at a discount store. It was new and only $69.95. Trouble was that it was stained too dark and, when I looked around behind it and pulled out the drawers under the mattress, I saw that it was poorly constructed.

Anyway, I am happy with my purchase of the South Store's Prairie Collection single bed. The bed frame is so strong that I think kids could jump on it and pillow fight without any danger. I'm not a kid but I just needed a single size bed to fit properly in the bedroom of my new apartment. Utility, comfort, quality, and an appropriate style are far more important to me than size or small differences in price.

Great bed. It's not wood , but my 12 year old son loves it. Drawers roll out easily. Took some time to assembly, but instructions were clear. Fast delivery.

If you are looking to save space in a room this is the way to go. Its easy to assemble and looks pretty good in any setting. Plus it eliminates at least one dresser with the drawers underneath. Good value for the money.

This bed was very easy to put together. I didn't keep track of the time, but I estimate it took me about two or three hours to put it together by myself. With another pair of hands it probably would have been less time, but it's an easy one-man job. Now that it's finished it looks beautiful, and seems pretty sturdy.

I really like the three drawers since it's going to be a bed for guests, but I think there's enough room under the bed for three more drawers on the other side. Then again, it probably would be a lot less sturdy with drawers on both sides. I'm going to need two more beds in a few years, and I plan to buy the same bed if it's still available.

Nice product.. great for 4 year old boy.. Somewhat easy to assemble.. Nothing broken upon arrival. My son loves the bed... makes a lovely set

parts are broken; parts are cracked; fittings don't fit. Can't return package because I can't lift it; besides already started to put it together when discovered broken pieces.

wasted my money

I ordered this bed for my 10 year old son. It is a wonderful product. Very easy to put together! A couple pieces had a crack in them upon arrival. We called the company and they sent the new pieces right away! Awesome customer service!
