Product Description

IRIS: Iris is a genus of between 200-300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species. A must have perennial, the iris tolerates wet, boggy areas and is very adaptable to a variety of soil types.

This adaptable plant does well in wet soils, but also thrives in good garden soil with adequate moisture. Perfect for planting along pond edges, streambanks and other wet habitats, it will thrive in water up to a foot deep. The blue flowers make their appearance in June and July, atop two to three foot tall stems. When soils dry out in midsummer,Wild Iris doesn't miss a beat. Individual plants will grow to form attractive clumps, which can be easily divided in fall or early spring. Grows well in any moist soil, in full sun to light shade. Attracts Hummingbirds. Hardy in zones 3-9. Proper name: Iris virginica shrevei.
