5.0 out of 5 stars Widening horizons
I was looking for something different than what I usually listen to (Godsmack, Saliva, Static X). I came across this little gem for Voodoo Glow Skulls calling it's music 'California street music' ala punk ska. It's got a good thick beat to it and it's really rather catchy. It's different and they have the potential of breaking out into something big. Definitely worth...

3.0 out of 5 stars Delivers What You'd Expect
These guys are amazing live and have been around for ages (I started listening to them in early High School). This album delivers exactly what you would expect from VGS, nothing less. The problem is it also doesn't offer anything more. If you like VGS than this is a good release to pick up. If you are on the fence you may want to wait for a later release.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Band You Need to Experience at Least Once, June 9, 2008
This review is from: Southern California Street Music (Audio CD)
These guys are completely ridiculous, but ridiculous in a kind of once-in-a-lifetime spectacle sort of way. You know, the way you just HAVE to go see Dick Valentine scream about taking you to a gay bar one more time. It's not quite "Rock `N Roll McDonald's," but it's close enough. The Glow Skulls are what might happen if the Squirrel Nut Zippers took Dave Navarro to a polka party hosted by Everlast. Yes-seriously. They're currently touring in support of this new LP, "Southern California Street Music," featuring the single "Fire in the Dancehall" (Speaking of Dick Valtnine, he oughtta sue--he was singing about a "fire in the disco" long before the Glow Skulls replaced "disco" with "dancehall," a not terribly subtle way of concealing their influences.)
