Book Description

April 18, 2009
Nate Brown, a divorced, unemployed logistics professional meets ultra-successful Giselle Anderson; a beautiful enigma on the career fast-track with Charlotte based Bank of America. Their chance meeting at a local jazz club has Nate reconsidering his relationship hiatus. Suspicious of all women, Nate takes his time getting to know this stunning, Plus-Size diva, who just happens to be a fabulous, southern gourmet cook. Nate finds himself falling in love. All is well, until Layla, Nate's cunning ex-girlfriend offers temptation that he has never been able to resist. Down-home family meals and crazy friends, bonded since childhood, keep him centered and out of his "man cave." But things get complicated when Nate discovers that one of his friends is living a double life ... and is romantically involved with Giselle's best friend. A good man and great father, Nate finds himself in the same dilemma as many of his African American brothers in these challenging economic times. How will he win Giselle with no job? How will he save for Trey's future? Accustomed to controlling his own fate - Nate feels he is running out of time. Jealousy, secrets, passion and good food lead this winding tale as unpredictable events unfold.

It's been a long time since someone had the ingenious idea to combine a well written novel with a cookbook... this novel is what Soul Food should have been... McCullough has the ability to make you laugh and make you cry in the same chapter... I eagerly await his next project

4.0 out of 5 stars Recipe For Love!, August 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Southern Cookin' (Paperback)
Gutsy approach to describe a mature mindset regarding love, relationships, and the way to a man's heart: Food! This story is truly for the grown-folk! It's not about quick responses to lust, greed or power. It's a down-to-earth heart-felt male perspective with a dash of flavor called hope that challenges you to believe that there are still some good men out here. If you want love, its in there; if you want humor, its in there; if you want mystery, its in there; if you want action, its in there. Ole-school style with NC ingredients to keep locals laughing and reflecting.
