5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Take Uncle Cracker, give him some lyrics other than talking about how bad he is and you have Rehab. I saw the video on MTV and thought this was a joke but after listening to it a few times I decided to give the CD a chance, I ran out and bought it and haven't stopped listening to it since. It don't matter is definitely the best single but it definitely isn't the best...

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh
Rehab's debut album shows good effort. Their mix of alternative and hip-hop is absolutely brilliant, and pulled off impeccably on "Scarecrow," "Sittin' At the Bar," and "It Don't Matter." They also show talent in the straight rap genre ("Storm Chaser" is an excellent example. But this album is far from perfect. Some of the songs are...

It don't matter is definitely the best single but it definitely isn't the best song. Check out Sittin at a Bar to hear these guys at their best. My only fear is that just like every other band who had an amazing debut album on the charts, these guys will change their sound so that 13 year old girls will love them (**cough Limp Bizkit**). If you want an original sound with lyrics that come from the heart, check this CD out.

5.0 out of 5 stars a truly genius and shamefully underappreciated gem, December 7, 2004
By
This review is from: Southern Discomfert (Audio CD)
I stumbled across this cd by pure fluke right after it came out, after seeing a video for "It Don't Matter". Needless to say, it struck a resounding chord in me and after nearly five years and several worn-out copies, this cd remains as my favorite of all time and is always in my cd player. Sure, there's lots of swearing, but so does real everyday life, and this cd, like no other I have ever heard, captures the truth about the innate sadness of the human condition. It's a shame these guys never got the attention they deserved, because this cd is truly genius. All the answers to life's riddles can be found in the lyrics, they are truly profound if you're open-minded enough to listen. A true gem. Check out Brooks' solo album "Straight Outta Rehab" if you can find it, it's just as good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Town, with soul..., September 19, 2001

My friend recommended Rehab with the simple description: "it's like Crazy Town, with soul..." At the time Crazy Town's first and only single 'Butterfly' was blowing up and sure I liked it, at first. It certainly lacked that certain something. I tried a little Rehab and haven't been the same since. Some may dismiss Rehab as an afterthought thinking it's a simple band using expletive lyrics and drug talk to sell a couple records. The two main members of the band actually met in rehab and formed the group due to their love of music and we are all the better for it. These two are inexplainably musically talented, they switch styles practically every song and every song is a near masterpiece. Those who like folk, country, rap, hard rock, alt rock, nearly anything can get into Rehab. Check out 'It Don't Matter' the duo's only single, 'Rattle My Cage', 'Stormchaser', 'More Like You' and 'Miss Jones' and you will get a good idea of what Rehab has in store.

This album is extremely unique. A blend of explicit lyrics, break beats and actual harmony. Even if you don't care for the subject matter, the groove itself will keep you listening.
Outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Check yourself into REHAB!!, October 30, 2000

I saw them in concert, they blew me away, I bought their album, they impressed me even further. With a style all their own, Rehabs Danny & Brooks flow through this album with skills I havent seen anywhere else before. If your down with Kottonmouth Kings, or Insane Clown Posse, I am sure REHAB will impress you like they did me, But dont let the Kottonmouth & ICP reference fool you, these guys come at it at a totally different angle. So get addicted to REHAB, like I am.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect all around, December 16, 2003

Rehab is one example of a great group that never made it big. Southern Discomfort, as a whole, is excellent, bringing the listener into the depths of addiction and pain. From that description, one might think it is depressing, but quite the opposite. Rehab always bring humor and intellegence into the mix of their music. Quick run down of the best of the album:

1.) Escape Intro: I hated this when I first listened to it, but it is a great way to introduce the album

2.) Hey Fred: Great track. Danny Boone sings most of the song with Brooks bringing in one rapped verse. This song has a reggae type beat, but still brings in a little bit of Southern feeling.

4.) Crazy People: Very Southern sound, good mixture of that with the beat. First time I ever heard the phrase "blowing grits".

6.) It Don't Matter: Great song describing the feeling of just giving up. Nice calm beat, instant classic.

8.) Drinking Problem: Brings the listener further into the mind of a addict. Steaknife brings in great raps.

11.) Sitting at a Bar: Best drinking song ever.

14.) Thinkin' Again: Danny's voice is beautiful on this track, intellegent lyrics, one of the greatest.

Rehab did do better on parts of their second unreleased cd, but for being the only one that was released, it shows their individuality. Southern rap at its greatest.

5.0 out of 5 stars It saddens me, April 20, 2003

to know that this gem has been around for 2 and half years and I am just finding it out now. Rehab is amazing, perfect blending of diffrent styles. These guys are so talented its hard to imagine they had the problems they did. My favorite songs are Storm Chaser (they make cee-lo sound like an amateur), crazy people, and sittin at a bar. You can listen to the whole record without wanting to skip tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where's the follow-up?!, July 26, 2004
This review is from: Southern Discomfert (Audio CD)
This is one of the best albums ever by a "no-name" band. You want to talk about diversity, talent, creativity, and passion all rolled into one tight-knit masterpiece? These guys have everything you need to produce a winning sound...except a follow up to their debut album. I love this cd so much I've been searching for a part 2 since the first one dropped. Oh well. If they never make a second album, I can attribute that to the poor judgment of the general public that they attempted to cater to.

These guys are great. I'm not too big of a fan of rap, but they bring it to a whole new level. Storm Chaser is a very good one, as are It Don't Matter, Sittin at a Bar, and Scarecrow. They have songs that go with a lot of different moods. I recommend for people who don't even like rap to check out a few of their songs. You'll be surprised by how good they are and how much talent they have.
