5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful celtic music featuring Helen O'Hara on violin, April 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Southern Hearts (Audio CD)
Helen teams with Nicky Hopkins of the Rolling Stones, former David Bowie drummer Woody Woodamnsey, steel guitarist BJ Cole and Robin Williamson to create a brilliant collection of original celtic compositions. Formerly released as Romanza. Absolutely haunting and full of sparkle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helen O'Hara Plays the Violin Exquisitly, June 13, 2002

This review is from: Southern Hearts (Audio CD)
I have never heard a violin played as well as the way Helen O'Hara plays it here. Her style brings out all the simple sweet beauty of Irish music. She makes her violin sing, and cry, and dance, bringing sheer pleasure to her listeners. I can't help believing that her violin is in itself a World Class instrument. Coupled with her ability to seize a musical note by the core, and with her ability to be "one with" such delicate and time honored rhythm, I have never heard anything of the likes of Helen O'Hara. Her music is pure and simple, and non compromising in every way.
By far her best song on this CD is ELEGY II, all sixteen minutes of it.
Helen O'Hara is much too talented to have made but one or two CDs. I have to find more of her exceptional music. Can you help me?

I love this cd so much, it has the most wonderfully relaxing pieces of music I have ever heard. Elegy II (a track on this cd) especially is now my all time favourite piece of music, it makes my soul relax as hardly anything else ever does. Helen O'Hara, thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dexys Violinist, February 17, 2008
This review is from: Southern Hearts (Audio CD)
Fans of Ms. O'Hara may already know that she played on some great rock albums with Dexys Midnight Runners. Her part on "This is What She's Like" from the Don't Stand Me Down album is exceptional.

Soothing and melodic, I put this amazing CD on whenever I want to float away! Just the right mix of Celtic Harp, violin & guitar, with a freshness that will make you want to listen again and again. Definitely one of my favorites, always on top of the stack I'm listening to.
