One of the Best,

I am a yankee but sure do want to be a southerner after reading this cookbook. The recipes are so easy and not all need exotic ingredients but easy to find items at the local grocery store. The sidebars are very entertaining. I hope to host my first catered party for friends in the spring. This is one cookbook that will be out on the kitchen counter all the time.

The perfect gift for family and friends who entertain,

Southern Scrumptious is clearly the product of a skilled cook, gracious entertainer and practical teacher who excels in communicating to the user. The recipes are outstanding, and when the advice is followed carefully, one begins to develop those skills which the author obviously has mastered.

The best cookbook for entertaining,
This review is from: Southern Scrumptious: How to Cater Your Own Party (Hardcover)
By all means buy this cookbook! My sisters and I hosted a bridal shower for 30 guests and totally copied the Buffet Dinner with Friends menu. It turned out beautifully. I have tried several other recipes and all have been outstanding. Ms. Sims gives thorough directions for all the recipes and helps with pre-party planning. You will turn to this cookbook first when you want something special.

Easy gourmet for the expert and the beginner!,

This book makes entertaining so easy you'll never need a caterer again. It gives you everything you'll need to host the perfect party, whether it's a tea or a dinner party or anything in between. The recipes are easy and delicious; and, in each party menu, the flavors of the different recipes all complement each other perfectly. It also goes into detail about how much to plan for each person in your party and how to stock your bar. Every time I've made the Baked Spinach Fiesta Dip and served it at my home or at a party, at least two or three people have asked for the recipe. These days, I rarely cook outside this book.

If I could offer only one southern cook book as an example of the best of the old southern and new southern cooking I would give this one to my friends...either "Yankees" or other visitors. I have used selections with just family and formal dining in Europe, with novice cooks and experienced professional chefs and I always get rave reviews. Buy this one.
