4.0 out of 5 stars It's really not a bad album.
For once I'am very pleased that I didn't pay attention to any of the negative reviews for this album, because it really isn't that bad of an album. Of course it's hard to take some of his lyrics serious, because this is the guy from the teen group N-toon who was just out like 4, 5 years ago. Anyway with that said, it's a nice album. I find some of his lyrics to be a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good album. Could have left out the "gangsta" songs
Lloyd's album is good, but he could have left out the gangsta based songs that dominated the first few. It kind of limits him as a singer. The street slang and the excessive cursing come off as ignorant and cold from him. When he does smoother stuff like Southside and a few other ballads and cleaner uptempos, he's that good. When he tries to come off hard like one of...

I find some of his lyrics to be a little odd, like when he says in the song "This way", "I'll take you any place, Domestic or excotic" (Hmm what?). Or like when he says in "Yesterday", "Aint no tellin where I'd be, Dead or in the penitentiary, From shootouts wit my enemy Squeeze until my clips empty". Like come on Lloyd it's hard to believe you have had shoot outs with anyone. Anyway my absolute favorite tracks have to be "Feels so right", " Caddillac Love", "This way", and "Trance feat. Lil Wayne". I've had this album for a while now and I still listen to it like I just got it. Of course this album isn't the best R&B album to hit the shelves, but if you like albums with a couple of ballads, this might be for you. And if you didn't like any of the singles he came out with, you still might like the album, because all of the songs have a different sound. None of the songs sound the same. That's my review, I'm out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lloyd the prince of R&B, July 25, 2004

I have to admit I was kind of skeptical when Lloyd first came on the scene I thought he'd be just another one hit wonder. But after buying his cd it became very evident that this is not the case. Southside is a phenominal cd which was very well put together. Lloyds voice is something new on the R&B scene he has his own sound.........Unlike these other R&B cats trying to fill other peoples shoes Lloyd is creating his own path alluring many females with his thuggish appeal...Don't let his looks fool you he can hold a note like there's no tomorrow...If you get the chance make sure you see him preform live....Lloyd has a bright future ahead of him

4.0 out of 5 stars The Inc. FINALLY releases a solid album!, July 24, 2004
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
I'll be honest, I'm definitely NOT the biggest Murder Inc. fan in the world, but it's pleasant to finally hear a record from the label that isn't absolutely dreadful. Though Lloyd's debut solo effort doesn't hold a candle to the year's best-selling and most critically acclaimed album, Usher's Confessions, it's without a doubt the best r&b debut the industry's seen in the last few years. While there are a few lackluster tracks that take away from the overall quality of the record, most songs are both catchy and well laced. Southside's best tracks:

1.Sweet Dreams (both pop & crunk friendly)
2.Hey Young Girl (the most infectious song of the year)
3.Take It Low (sexy & catchy)
4.I'm A G (bursting w/ creativity...period)
5.My Life (urban grit w/ an r&b twist)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut, July 31, 2006
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
This debut album by lloyd is amazin'....not to mention the boy is very handsome but he has the voice to go with it, and the songs aren't cheesy or corny they are mature, very sensual type songs, i love practically every track, i think he's a great talent and i hope he continues to make good music...even if he isn't with murder inc. any more (he's now with jazzy phae, on i think sho'nuff records!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Off The Hook!! Lloyd - The Future Of RnB?, October 25, 2004
By
Liam Brown "L-I-Am" (Edinburgh, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
I am a huge fan of hip-hop and have tried to expand my horizons and incorporate some rnb in my life and what a great place to start!

Lloyd's album is brilliant! Like everyone else, I heard the track "Southside" and wondered what this had to offer and I wasn't disappointed! People call his voice annoying? Hmmm, I don't think so! :-) Lol.

Don't get me wrong the whole album is HOT, but I think some of the highlight tracks include "Hustler", "Southside", and my favourite track off the whole album "Caddillac Love". I've never been so relaxed and soothed by a track in my whole lifetime. You can just play it and escape from the world :-)

So if you're a true fan of RnB and liked the track "Southside" I highly recommend this album for your collection.

Don't you think Lloyd & Usher should work on a track?

3.0 out of 5 stars Good album. Could have left out the "gangsta" songs, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
Lloyd's album is good, but he could have left out the gangsta based songs that dominated the first few. It kind of limits him as a singer. The street slang and the excessive cursing come off as ignorant and cold from him. When he does smoother stuff like Southside and a few other ballads and cleaner uptempos, he's that good. When he tries to come off hard like one of the street rappers, he rings flat. But he's relatively a new singer, and he can work on it for his next album. He just didn't make a strong enough album to compete with Usher's current mega-selling album for the male singer competition.

3.0 out of 5 stars COOL DEBUT, August 23, 2004
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
this debut was good. Its not all great like everybody is making it seem. There are times when u have to push the skip button but not too many times. At times his voice tends to hit up in those notes which make him sound like a female but its all good th boy can sing.for example yes when he was on 106th & Park he sounded better than he did ont he album and he can sing..

NOTEABLE TRACKS:
**Hey Young Girl
**SOuthside
**Take It Low
**Trance
**Cadillac Love
**Feelin You
**Sweet Dreams

this album is for sure worth a listen. It s not in my favorites but i listen to it i guess often or every once in a while..Im sure the next album will eb more stellar..and on point..but otherwise solid debut...

OVERALL GRADE = 79/100 C+

3.0 out of 5 stars Lloyd pretty straight, but u gotta grow up more dawg, August 8, 2004
This review is from: Southside (Audio CD)
Im not gonna lie, but when i first heard this i was feelin it, but it died on me slowly the next couple weeks. It just has nothing i could relate to. I feel many songs just feel elementary, and doesn't relate to anybody over 18. But if u still in high school it could be a good cd. There are a couple gems on there like My Life and Feels So Right. I would recommend this to the young people, but if older try hearing from a friend first or anywhere else, before paying for it.
