Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Southwestern Bell Freedom Phone's FM2560S Trimline corded phone features 64 caller ID memory, caller ID redial, a large, three-line LCD, and a dedicated new-call LED. A 10-number memory lets you store your most-dialed numbers, and a lighted keypad simplifies nighttime operation.

Instead of using the standard up and down scroll/review buttons, the FM2560S's Quick Review feature allows you to scroll through the caller ID records by rotating an easy-to-use knob. The records can be reviewed at different speeds to help you locate the number you need, quickly and efficiently. To call the caller ID record you are currently reviewing, simply press the redial button and the telephone will automatically call the number. Once it has dialed, it will instruct you to pick up the telephone to begin your conversation.

Until recently, the caller ID function was only available when the telephone was not in use. Type II devices such as the FM144W allow you to utilize caller ID in conjunction with call waiting (you must subscribe for these services through your local telephone company). Now you can see who is calling, even when you are on the line.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk; don't buy this!, January 8, 2003

I got this phone ... I have it for 20 Minutes and here's why it's going back:

(1) the caller id dosn't "catch" ANY incoming calls! (i have 3 other phones on that line, including one from the same co. that show every call.)

(2) it has a tiny LCD display, you will need glasses to read from it.

(3) the contrast for the lcd does not work at all!

(4) the caller id will only work when the phone is on the receiver, which means after or before a call. So in order to read the caller id, i have to stand directly on top of the phone, reading with lights on and my grandmother's glasses...

Oh, just wait untill i start using it, the way this goes i'll come up with 10 more reasons.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent phone, September 4, 2003
This review is from: Southwestern Bell FM2560S Trimline Corded Phone with Caller ID (Silver) (Office Product)
Was looking for a phone for the bedroom. This one fit the bill (almost). I have not had any problems adjusting the contrast (you press down on the arrow buttons to adjust when you first program the phone). The caller id display has worked fine once you program it with your area code. My only complaint is that I wish the company had designed it with a "backlit" caller id display. It's a bit of a hassle to turn on the bedside lamp at night to see who's calling on the caller id display. It has a lighted key pad which is great for dialing in a darkened room. The ringer volume can be adjusted to a low or high level. Works fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!!!, January 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Southwestern Bell FM2560S Trimline Corded Phone with Caller ID (Silver) (Office Product)
I have also had this phone for a half hour, and it's going back -the display is tiny and hard to read because the contrast controls are awful. The microphone that picks up your voice in the headset is all tinny, and the ring is the most irritating high pitched ring I have ever heard!
