Connie Francis was one of the most romantic singers of the 1950's and 1960's and is my choice for the sexiest. I don't buy CD's for the pictures included in the inserts, but the hardcover book which contains the 4 CD's in this collection is the best I have seen. The notes are excellent and there are many beautiful pictures of Connie.

She had the ability to write songs, but chose not to. She was the co-writer of one of her earliest recordings, Forgetting which is a beautiful up-tempo ballad, and my favorite Connie Francis song, and she also wrote the lyrics to her #9 hit Vacation. This collection contains all of the songs recorded by Connie which charted in the U.S. Fans of Connie who are interested in her other recordings should consider the four Bear Family collections which cover her Italian, German, and 1950's and 1960's American recordings.

Connie was a most dramatic performer without being pretentious as for example, Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler sometimes are. She was one of the most versatile singers and was equally comfortable singing up-tempo rock songs and slow, dramatic ballads. She was also one of the best international singers, with some superb Italian and Spanish recordings and even some good German music. Connie was one of the best song interpreters. Her covers of many classics such as Never On Sunday, Malaguena, Exodus are outstanding.

Two of my favorite tracks from this collection are songs written by Tony Hatch, Roundabout which is superior to Petula Clark's excellent recording and Love Is Me, Love Is You, Connie's most up-tempo song, which I played hundreds of times during the 1960's. I wish Connie would have recorded more Tony Hatch songs, but he worked almost exclusively with Petula Clark and his wife, Jackie Trent during the 1960's.

I am surprised that this collection is currently not available. Fans of Connie Francis will enjoy the Souvenirs Box Set.

Connie Francis is the preeminent female pop vocalist from the early 50's through the mid-60's. While there is much more to her recording career than her pop singles, this four CD box set is the definitive collection of her singles done for MGM from her breakout hit "Who's Sorry Now" to her last top-100 single in 1969. Along with every top-100 single, there are a few album cuts, b-sides and non-charting singles.

While there are several single-disc greatest hits collections available on Francis, to comprehensively cover her charted tunes requires a box of this magnitude. Even with 118 tracks, with so many popular singles, there is little a fan will not recognize listening to this entire set except perhaps for the first group of failed singles done during the two years prior to her finally striking it rich with "Who's Sorry Now". Several of the included tracks are her foreign-language recordings for which she achieved considerable recognition. The tracks are arranged in roughly chronological order giving a developmental flow to her music.

Sound quality is very good overall with reasonably little noise or tape hiss. Disc one is all mono except tracks 24,25,28,29; disc two is all stereo except tracks 1,4,8,16,25; disc three is mono except for tracks 1,4,6-8,12,15,17,24,27,28; disc four is stereo except tracks 4-6,8,10-13,20-22. The liner notes include 28 pages of musical history on Francis with many pictures, background notes on each included track and an album discography with tracks and covers. This package presents itself as an exceptionally well-executed, comprehensive singles collection on this icon from America's golden age of rock and roll.

I first purchased souvenirs because I have been after happy days and lonely nights for absolutely ages and this box set has it on.Being a fan of Connie Francis since childhood i have got many of her records . But on souvenirs there are many i have not got .I have found souvenirs absolutely fab.I really do reccomend t
