2.0 out of 5 stars Why, India, Why????
I'm a massive, huge, big-time India fan. I have every release and have witnessed her powerful live performances from NYC to Miami, but I must say that I'm not feeling this cd. It sounds a bit rushed and her vocals seem to be recorded diffrently than usual, not as strong. I love the title track as well as "Cuando Hieres A Una Mujer" and "No Es Lo Mismo". That's 3 good...

4.0 out of 5 stars Soy Diferente, December 21, 2006
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
As a huge admire of India's work, I must say I feel this album. Although many critics might scoff and say it was a "nice attempt better luck next time", I will totally dissagree. I dont knw about many but I have witness India perform tracks of this album live at clubs and I feel them. I love drving down HOLLYWOOD BLVD and bombing this CD off the wall......I hope she might come out with a live CD so many witness the power and emotion India delivers on stage. * Solamente Una Noche, Una Amor Obsesivo, Lagrimas, y Tengo Que Dejarte Ir are beautiful......My still favorite album must still be SOLA....wow messages in every song!

That's 3 good ones out of 11 songs. This from an artist that has released cd's that you can listen to from beginning to end. I don't even know what to say about "Madre E Hija aka MADRE", although I think the sentiment is sweet, it's comes across corny.

Now that we've lost Celia, I was hoping that she would raise the bar a bit and drop an unique, beautilfully produced cd. I figured she would snatch Salsa back from Reggaeton and create a classic in the vein of Ms. Cruz. I'm a bit dissapointed that she's still singing about lost love and scorned lovers. I thought after her great Sony release "Mi Alma y Mi Corazon" we'd get amazing material......and what happened with Sony anyway??? Now she's with Univision?!?!

India-I still admire you and I'll always support your work.....spoken like a true fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Talent, October 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Soy Diferente (MP3 Download)
India, I admire that you can perform in so many different styles. Some people want to peg this talented artist in a single specific Genre and that's an injustice. Open your mind and heart and you'll be able to fly--Open minds took us from big mainframe computers to desktop, laptop, smart phones and now Tablets; Now, Our youths are invited to experience this gift of "India" in the Genre they listen to and create Today. Music is a universal communication tool...And Madre sends a love and gratitude message to our Mama's and that's important in these trying times for some of us and our youths have taken for granted "Mama". There's something for everyone on this CD; so, give it a chance.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best female vocalist in Salsa doesn't disappoint, August 3, 2009
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
This cd contains music from some of the best musicians, songwriters, arrangers and of course female vocalist in Salsa. India is a class act and deservedly a living legend who continues to be true to the goal of creating quality music that no open hearts and minds can deny. Early in her career and under pressure to produce a string of salsa hits, she opted to make music with the legendary latin jazz maestro Eddie Palmieri, and then Tito Puente and the Count Basie Orchestra, speaking volumes to her integrity as an artist. In this cd she is back with Salsa, and yes, a sprinkle of reggaeton, which she performs with the same class and skill as we have heard from her in other genres. The combination of Salsa and Reggaeton is nothing new for those who know the music, and is helpful in keeping Salsa alive and relevant to the younger generation of music buyers. Salsa and reggageton also are mathmatically and musically compatible rhythms that can be integrated with one another seamlessly without disrupting your dancesteps or causing audio whiplash. Again, La India doesn't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars soy diferente, August 29, 2008
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
This album is great, like any other cd that I get when I like it I have to constantly play it. I have heard of India but never heard of her music. So when I was able to go to amazon.com and listen to the samples I just fell in love with her music and the way she sings. Anybody who purchases this I guarantee that you will enjoy and fall in love to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not much to say, It's India, August 29, 2006
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
It's trend to have Regaeton but it's hard to dance with it if you are only salsa dancer.

But Salsaeton is helping you to follow the trend and it's easier to dance Salsa with.

I love this album.

It's a good piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Salsaton?, August 23, 2006
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
I can't understand why people don't like the mix of reggaeton and salsa on this album. I am a big India fan and I love all of her albums whether they are the more traditional salsa style or salsaton or reggaeton or whatever. La India still has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard and I enjoy every single one of her songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another big one, February 12, 2006
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
The big thing about "The Princess of Salsa", India, is she is always changing. All her albums go the next level. They are very traditional to salsa, but always bring someting new to the game. After her album "Sobre el Fuego" she only gets better. Her albums are energetic and powerful. "Soy Diferente" is no exception. You just look at the cover and see how different India look. It is a very different album, but does not fall too far away from Salsa. The title track is very energetic and even has a Reggaeton version. If you like Reggaeton or Salsa, the song comes in both and will definitely have you dancing. "Lagrimas" is very emotional. "Cuando Hieres a Una Mujer" is a nice duet with Ivy Queen. Tito Nieves helps her out on "No es lo mismo." The most emotional and touching song is probably "Madre E Hija." Reminds you of Sobre el Fuego's "Burlada Inocencia," but with a different touch. You can't forget "Solamente una noche" which also includes a Reggaeton version. The last track "Bugarron" is one of the most unique in the album. Fans, rejoice once again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Negativaty Is A No No!, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Soy Diferente (Audio CD)
I have not heard the new cd but I bet my life as a fan and a friend of La India's that this cd will be a smash. India is and always will be #1 in my book! And any true fan will understand that as an artist you have to sometimes get a little commercial to stay ahead and please your public. Reggaeton is no exception. Do your homework people before you voice your opinion. If you were in the business you would understand that La India knows excactly what the market is. I have heard only a few tracks and I am on my way to purchase her new cd! GOOD JOB LINDA!! AS ALWAYS YOU MAKE ME PROUD! WITH LOVE JOEY :)
