5.0 out of 5 stars from an avatar fan @ heart
i would say to those people who were disappointed with this book, that i think they mainly bought this for the spoilers.. i would not speak too hastily that this book left many questions unanswered because by the time i publish this review, i would not have had the chance to see the finale episodes of avatar. however, judging by the fact that these books are meant for...

3.0 out of 5 stars Obviously An Avatar Airhead Wrote This...
I think that the book could have been written better. In fact, the prose is so dull that it makes me think that I can write my own version of this fantastic story and do much better.

I think that the book could have been written better. In fact, the prose is so dull that it makes me think that I can write my own version of this fantastic story and do much better.

I've been a fan of Avatar for a very long time. I bought this book purely for spoilers, and though it did the job well, I found myself bored at the poor writing. I gave this book a three because it fulfilled its informational purposes (and gave me a free poster). But honestly, after July when the real episodes come on, I see this book going out of print.

This book is meant for ages 4-8 and it shows. The book leaves a bunch of questions unanswered and over all it's poorly done. You have this epic series and the end just falls flat of what it could of been. With hope, it might be due to the fact it's a children's book, written for, and I quote the age reading level from amazon.com, "Reading level: Ages 4-8." 4 to 8!! Things had to be left out and or changed for it to fit the intended age group for the book. So there is hope for the actual cartoon yet! But, yeah don't waste your money on the book.

The fact that this book was released two months before the series finale befuddles me, along with Nickelodeon's retarded scheduling of the episodes and their general mess. Brian and Mike should also be ashamed of themselves for allowing this tripe to be published. It only gives them and the Avatar franchise a bad name.

Much of the season finale was spectacular, though there were so many questions left unanswered. What happened to Long Feng, Azula, the Earth King, Ursa, Chit Sang, Haru, Teo, etc etc etc? There were a few things contradictory as well (if Ty Lee was at the Boiling Rock, she would not have been able to make friends with the Kyoshian Warriors, as these girls were being held somewhere else) and I'm surprised Mai's uncle (the prison warden) didn't kill himself after the prisoners escaped - he said that he'd sooner die than see a prisoner escape. Seasons 1 and 2 were good. Season 3 had some great parts, but I got the feeling that the writers were becoming very lazy/sloppy as this particular season unfolded.

1.0 out of 5 stars SOZIN'S EPIC!FAILURE OF A COMET!!!, June 8, 2008
This review is from: Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle (Avatar: The Last Airbender) (Paperback)
Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle (Avatar) <---This piece of ink, glue, and dead trees was a waste of time and money. It was made with 5-10 yr olds (preferably boys)in mind. I read the book, even though I am not in that age & gender bracket, but am a HUGE fan of the show. I was deeply disappointed at how it was written, the time frame it was released within (before the series finale), and how the ending was. If this is how the show ends, word-for-word, then the show is seriously made of EPIC!FAIL instead of EPIC!WIN!! Let us hope that the show is 1,000,000,000x better than this...this...thing they call a "book".

P.S. The only cool thing about this purchase was the free poster.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont' bother. Really., May 13, 2008
This review is from: Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle (Avatar: The Last Airbender) (Paperback)
Even keeping in mind that this is an adaptation of Avatar: the Last Airbender, and is aimed at the 8-12 set, this book is dull and poorly written. The first person narrative, intended to give the reader insight into the character's thoughts and feelings, comes off as just plain silly. "Oh boy, I can't believe this is happening...she's leaning in...she's kissing me!" Upon reading this, my 8-year-old promptly began to making gagging noises. Even worse were the interviews at the end, where the creators rather rudely snubbed a large population of their fans by calling them "kids" and making it seem as though they were enjoying a joke at the expense of their fandom. In all, this book was a waste of money, and if the cartoon follows this predictable storyline, it won't be worth watching.

i would say to those people who were disappointed with this book, that i think they mainly bought this for the spoilers.. i would not speak too hastily that this book left many questions unanswered because by the time i publish this review, i would not have had the chance to see the finale episodes of avatar. however, judging by the fact that these books are meant for ages not too old enough to make a review then i would guess that these people who have submitted these reviews before me are just impatient or frustrated. i have read some of the books similar to this and they do maintain their style of writing. that is, purely for children and not thorough nor detailed. but it indeed cured me of my spoiler thirst.. (haha)
with regards to the book itself, i think it was beautifully done. i repeat, i have not seen the real episode itself when i wrote this but it certainly gives us something to imagine. the books similar to this also had different points of view as for each chapter. for example, chapter one: zuko, then the whole chapter would be entirely based from zuko's point of view. it is quite interesting because it gives more chance for character development. as ive said earlier, the book remains faithful to other books similar to this.
i do not have any problems with this book. I would recommend it to any AVATAR FAN at heart.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle (Avatar: The Last Airbender) (Paperback)
I really loved this book because the characters shared their feelings more than usual. I was upset by the negative comments about this book. All my friends really liked it too.

My son really liked this book. The story is like the movie, even including pictures from it. I liked the little details, like the paper looking old. Would suggest it to anyone who likes Avatar the Last Airbender.

This was the culmination of the series. very well done. I found it to be not as predictable as anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Enough lose ends were left to allow a short reprise, if necessary. Excellent interpretation of Asian culture throughout the story line. As "Mako's" last performance it is a fitting memorial: although he died before these episodes were produced or aired.

Well done Nickelodeon!

This review is from: Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle (Avatar: The Last Airbender) (Paperback)
This was a gift for my 8 yr old and he was very happy with it. It offered a different perspective on things he had already seen on the live episodes, and he enjoyed that.
