The manicurist, the public speaker, the ex-vicar, all these and more shape their views, ending with the stepmother's tale, a Cinderella-story with the stepmother as victim...Fay Weldon's new novel recalls Boccaccio's late medieval masterwork, "The Decameron". Boccaccio dedicated his book to the ladies of his time, who were forced to hide their amorous passions under a veil of discretion, while men were free to indulge theirs. Fay Weldon is one of Britain's best loved and most respected authors. She lives in Dorset with her husband, the poet Nick Fox.Sian Thomas was most recently seen as Amelia Bones in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, (2007) and she has also appeared in Perfume: the Story of a Murderer (2006) and Vanity Fair (2004). Her TV and theatre work is extensive, with theatre credits including Up For Grabs (2002) for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.
