5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book for a super cool birthday or slumber party!
This book would make your daughter's birthday or sleepover a huge hit, not only making a lot of fun, something for the girls to take home and make your daughter a huge hit with her friends. You could maybe also use this for Girl Scout troop as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version on IPad2 is poor
I just downloaded the Kindle version on my IPad2, and was extremely disappointed. First the photos are not in color which defeats the whole purpose in seeing how the finished product will look. Also, some of the text for the ingredients is almost impossible to read. I've adjusted my font size, but it does not help. It almost looks like a poor scan job of a pdf. Other...

This book would make your daughter's birthday or sleepover a huge hit, not only making a lot of fun, something for the girls to take home and make your daughter a huge hit with her friends. You could maybe also use this for Girl Scout troop as well.

Here is what the book includes: Spa tips and tricks, recipes for Spa inspired food to eat while treating your body to yummy smelling treats. All the body recipes say do not eat and also give how long each treatment is good for... usually a week or two in your fridge.

Ok, here's what we made so far:

To eat:

Sparkling Princess Punch - Everyone liked this punch, less they were not huge fans of berries. I purchased 1 bag that had strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. It tasted really good, adults enjoyed it as well!

We made it again and used Cran-grape juice and great sparkling water and no fruit.. the girls didn't like the berries. (they are 7 1/2 and 8)

Spa Princess Fondue - also really yummy and a huge hit! We used the following dippers: pretzel rods, banana slices, marshmallow 1/2 them, vanilla wafers and vanilla cream-filled sugar wafers. Was also really good right from the fridge over night!!

Spa made take home items:

Pink Princess Scented Glitter Gel - ours was actually a blue since I had blue aloe gel and this worked out beautifully since the girls loved blue and we didn't need to add food coloring. We only used vanilla oil and just doubled it and the ultra fine craft glitter is nice. You really have to look to see it which I like. (makes 2)

Milk Chocolate Milk Bath - Smelled yummy. Since our spa girls are 7 I simmered and added the chocolate chips and set aside for the hour to cool. Then I had the girls do the measuring and reading the directions... sneaky reading time!!! (makes 2)

Confetti Bath Salts - a lot fun! The girls loved layering the salts making really beautiful. This makes a lot.

Pink Peppermint Foot Glow - really cool, the girls loved putting their feet in the cold foot glow!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute for gifts or for spa pampering, January 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Spa Princess Cookbook (Spiral-bound)
This is one of a series of "princess" cookbooks (fairy princess, tea parties, etc. are others). This one I bought for my daughters, thinking it would grow with them more than fairies would (since they're already six) though all of the books are adorable. As with all the princess cookbooks, the pages are colorful and there are many cute ideas. I like the ideas in some of the other books better, but this book is a little more "functional." Half of the book contains recipes for edible or drinkable spa treats, the other half has recipes for spa items such as homemade soaps, facials, lotions, sugar scrubs, etc. The book is colorful and spiral bound with 14 food recipes (punch, cookies, smoothies, dips, fruit concotions, flip flop cakes....) and 15 recipes for facials, scrubs, soaps, baths, and so on. I figure we could use this for a spa party in the distant future and some of these items would make nice homemade gifts.

The recipes are simple and most ingredients should be relatively easy to find. Some cute ideas are fruit sushi, flip flop cakes, milk bath cookies (for the bath but they look like sugar cookies), soaps shaped like popsicles. One page includes tips and tricks for making spa items and for spa treatments. It would have been more interesting if there were information included on what benefits certain treatments or ingredients give. Great as useful and edible "crafts."

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute idea, January 7, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

My daughter asked for cooking things for Christmas and I really didn't want to buy an easy bake oven. She actually found this book at her school book fair and then I purchased it here on amazon. It has such cute ideas in it. My daughter really loves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Filled with fun Spa treats and treatments!, May 4, 2011
This review is from: Spa Princess Cookbook (Spiral-bound)
The Spa Princess Cookbook has over thirty ideas that will make your spa party extra special! It's divided into two sections: Spa Treats and Spa Treatments, with professional photographs accompanying each recipe. The suggestions in Spa Princess Cookbook would be perfect for a girl's party, for any age. There's lots of tasty recipes, like the Ice Cream Bites, which transform cream-filled sugar wafers into fruity, sparkly ice cream sandwiches. And the Pretty Princess Strawberries are filled with pink cream cheese filling and colorful sprinkles. Several refreshing drink recipes are included, as well as fun treats like fondue and fruit cups. I loved the fruit sushi, sweetened with brown sugar and coconut milk and topped with fruit and drizzle of honey-spice. The Spa Treatments section has ideas to pamper your guests; from Fruity Facials to a Banana Bread Beauty Mask. There are some nice gifts to make for your friends, like the Scented Glitter Gel, Confetti Bath Salts or the Popsicle Soap Bars. The Spa Princess Cookbook has yummy treats (and treatments:) that are simple to prepare, but would be ideal for any "spa" day.

3.0 out of 5 stars cute ideas, BUT. . . ., May 26, 2010
This review is from: Spa Princess Cookbook (Spiral-bound)
I picked up this book thinking it would be great for my daughter. She is a total girly girl and loves doing anything "spa" like. We have had spa parties for her and her friends in the past and it would be a great addition to our arsenal.
HOWEVER,when we went to make some of the spa treatments we were dissapointed. The recipes weren't figured correctly and many came up dry and didn't work. We had to add a few things or extra of some of the ingredients and some of the things we ended up just throwing away. I cook and bake frequently so I know a bit about cooking and could fix some of it, but the rest was frustrating and turned out gross and wrong.
The food ones are pretty simple and don't need to be exact so they turned out fine. But unless you cook often and know how to correct something when the recipe is wrong I wouldn't recommend this book.
