Life After Suave House,
By Nuisance "the rebel" (Miami) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Space Age 4 Eva (Reis) (Audio CD)
We all know Eightball & MJG for giving you timeless classics like Comin Out Hard, On Top Of The World, In Our Lifetime, Lyrics Of A Pimp etc but after a few great albums and two slammin solo joints by both Eightball(Lost) and MJG(No More Glory), Eightball and MJG call it quits after years of being swindled by Tony Draper. They decided to form their own independent record company(JCOR)and release their first album on it called Space Age $ Eva. The intro is fire because its vintage Ball & G. Things is great and DJ Quik joins in on the fun in Buck Bounce as all three spit heat over a peculiar but innovative beat by DJ Quik. Pimp Hard is a solid first single produced by Jazze Pha(whose beats sounded better back then than they do now) and Alwayz is them talking about a female that had them sprung. Thank God is good but that beat sounds like something DMX should have been rapping over. Filler: I Know U and At The Club are lethally dull. Boom Boom is a commercial clunker plus its never a good sign when you joint sounds exactly like Will Smith's Boom Shake The Room. Space Age 4 Eva is clubby and lame. Bottom Line: Spage Age 4 Eva is proof that Eightball & MJG can still make a good album outside of Suave House Records. Its a pity that SuaveHouse couldnt keep it real with them because when its all said and done, they lost the best thing that's ever happened to them. Standout Tracks: INTRO, THINGS, COLLARD GREENS, BUCK BOUNCE, PIMP HARD, ALWAYZ, JANKIE, ITS ALL REAL and THANK GOD.
