5.0 out of 5 stars Storage for Big, Fluffy Things
I was looking for a way to store extra pillows and fluffy comforters. The Vacuum-seal cubes worked great! Once the air is out of the bag, it fits nicely onto a linen closet shelf instead of taking up space on an entire shelf or on a hanger in a closet. I am going to by more to use for seasonal clothes that I store in bins.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy these bags!
If I could give these bags negative stars I would. The plastic is extremely brittle and thin. The plastic slide closure tears the plastic even on under-filled bags. The "patented one way valve" is a joke. My regular household vacuum sucked it off it's seal before the bag had even been partially emptied of air. 1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap product. Falls apart after a couple of uses. Zip seal is very weak., April 24, 2009

We have had these space bags for a year. The zipper is cheap and does not seal well, the plastic on the vacuum nozzle comes off readily, and the plastic gets brittle and tears easily. Take it from a year of experience; this brand of vacuum bags has been nothing but bad news.

1.0 out of 5 stars save your money, May 15, 2008
These bags have a "zip" closure but it doesn't seal all the way so you end up with air getting back into the bags, defeating the whole purpose of the bags. I had to use duct tape on the end to keep it sealed.

Yes, it vacuums and shrinks. No, it doesn't hold that shape, even when you no longer hear air hissing and think you've sealed it up well. Total waste of time and money.

1.0 out of 5 stars We hated these too. They are thin, brittle, do not hold seal, December 20, 2008

Make a strong sturdy version of these and I will be first in line. For now, these are junk! stay away.

I've used 5 of the spacebags, and 3 of them have deflated again (which is why this review is a 3 out of 5 - ironic, no?) I just expect something to work consistently and these don't.

1.0 out of 5 stars thank you space bags...linen closet door is broken, December 4, 2009

Well I'm glad to see that I'm not insane. Not regarding this product anyway. As for other aspects of my life...maybe. I thought there must have been something wrong with me or the way I was using this product, but now I can see that many others had the same problem. At first when I vacuumed the air out, the bag shrunk down nicely (although not nearly as compressed as they show in the photos and ads) so I put 2 large cubes full of blankets and pillows into my linen closet for storage when summer rolled around. Now that it's cold again, I went to take out the bags, only to find that they puffed back up and I was unable to open my accordion-style linen closet door. I had to use my "massively huge" muscles to force it open, and the door came off the tracks. Needless to say, this product is junk and caused more headache than had I just crammed my blankets in the closet as I do every year. I have the roll-up type of space bags for travel, etc. and they have retained their shape fine, but these cubes are for some reason completely useless. I recently saw a commercial for the "new and improved" cube bags. I'm definitely skeptical, so I'll wait to get some buyer reviews before purchasing this time. The concept for these bags is great, however they definitely need to improve the quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too thin, June 15, 2008
I used other brand and I thought this bags are all basically the same.
I found out the brand does matter, but the price was almost the same.
The difference is the thickness of the plastic. The thicker of course is better.
The small one actually works ok. If you want to purchase this, you should buy the small to medium size.
I dont think the material can handle the large amount of clothes.

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm the oddball of the bunch - the jumbo worked for me, July 5, 2009
This review is from: Space Bag BR-86123-4 Vacuum-Seal Cube-Shaped Storage Bags, Set of 3, Large, Extra Large, and Jumbo (Kitchen)
I almost feel badly giving this an okay review, but the jumbo bag actually worked for me with a little alteration.

The large and extra large bags were useless for my purposes. I couldn't fit anything remotely large in them and if you're putting clothes in them, then there's not much air to suck out of them anyway. I can't say I ever understood how the woman on television sucked that much air out of a sweater.

I put a fairly fluffy comforter, a set of sheets (no fluff), a moderately fluffy lap quilt and two very large, very poofy floor pillows in the jumbo bag. They filled the bag to within about five inches of the zipper, which made me nervous, since that stupid zipper broke on every single one of the flat space bags I've ever bought.

But it zipped fine. I took off that flimsy "one way" valve that was coming off already and just used the black cap to cork 'er once I'd sucked the air out. I'd say I reduced the size by about 50-60% and there hasn't been any seam rippage or air leakage for a couple of days now. I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed that it lasts past my moving day in a couple of weeks.

I'm not kidding myself that these things in general are junk - I learned that with my other space bag purchases and I don't know why I bothered with these except hope springs eternal and I desperately needed something to move all these quilts and pillows. So the Large and Extra Large get a 1 star for being a fairly useless size and the jumbo gets a 3 star so far for holding up but only for usage with super fluffy and light things that can mash up easily and won't strain the seams. Average 2 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Expensive garbage, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Space Bag BR-86123-4 Vacuum-Seal Cube-Shaped Storage Bags, Set of 3, Large, Extra Large, and Jumbo (Kitchen)
My wife and I bought some of these bags to store extra blankets and bedding. The valve is very difficult to open on both of them. One of them was completely missing part of the valve and is not air-tight. The other appears to have no defect, but after five minutes, it begins to let air in. The plastic is brittle and thin; it appears to be very cheap quality.

The concept behind this product is good, but the materials used are of inferior quality. All they have turned out to be are high-priced garbage bags that don't work as well as actual garbage bags.
