These Space Bags are very large and strong and work well. However, to have success with this product you must follow the directions carefully. The directions are on the Space Bag website. It is imperative to make sure the bags are not over filled and to seal them very well (slide the zipper back and forth several times). I have bags in my attic that were sealed over a year ago and they still look the same as when I first put them up there!

Although the bag will go completely flat, it works very well for what it is. If you need to store some clothes away this is a great option that will keep your stuff clean while freeing space. My only complaint, and the reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5, is that the bags are not as heavy duty as they should be. I can see them tearing after a few uses. If you're careful with them and follow the directions properly, you will love these bags.

They work as advertised! They are not as thick as I had anticipated, but I filled them pretty full and they did not leak. Of course, you have to use common sense and not abuse them! I put a queen size comforter, a queen size quilt and a full size comforter in the extra large and after sucking out all the air, realized I had room for more!

Something has changed!

I purchased new space bags last spring. I noticed the plastic seemed to be different than the Space Bags I purchased years ago. Nevertheless I stored my clothes as directed.

I just pulled out my winter clothes and the smell of plastic permeates every fiber! I'm still trying to rid these clothes of the horrible smell.

I've called Space Bags customer services more than once and my complaints are being ignored.

Beware!

I am very pleased with this product. It is easy to use, the bags seal tightly and easily and it is easy to vacuum the air out of the bags. In fact, it is so easy to use that my 8 year old actually enjoys helping with the clean up and store process at the end of each season. In my experience, the bags stay sealed tightly and there is no leakage of air into the packages during storage. I highly recommend this product.

After reading all the reviews (good and bad) I decided to purchase this 12 bag combo. My family thought that I was taking a big risk when they calculated the cost including shipping but I was desperate for a storage solution. I have absolutely no regrets! We don't have need for bulky bedding in my country but I used the bags to store containers of curtains, sheets, towels, clothes from my wedding and other formal dinners that I wont wear soon and it worked great! The bags were then packed neatly into one under-bed container and tucked away.

Just follow the instructions: - Don't over pack (there is a stop line), make sure they're sealed by running the zipper carefully back and fort...and vacuum. Voila! Now all I have to do is get rid of these bulky stackables that were littering my bedroom floor.

I'm usually a sucker for gimmicks that I see on TV so when I spotted these bags for $20 at Costco I knew I had to purchase them. Typically I use these for two uses:

STORAGE OF OFF-SEASON CLOTHING/BEDDING:
The original intent for purchasing these was because I have a summer and winter comforter that were taking up way too much space. With ease I was able to fold up my King heavy down comforter and squeeze it into an XL bag. The great thing about these bags was I learned that after vacuuming the down comforter down, it compressed it quite a bit, making a whole lot more room for storing other items. After letting the comforter sit for 5 minutes, I was then able to open up the bag and put in my flannel sheets/pillow cases too! Talk about a one stop solution!

I am also a fan of sweaters/cardigans in the Fall/Winter so having these bags allows me to easily compress all my 'fluffy clothing' into a neat drawer. My biggest concern was that after storing items for 5 months, they would lose their fluff, but to my surprise they were fine after being air-tight for 5 months and were able to bounce back to their normal shape in an hour (putting the items in a dryer for a few minutes would also help a bunch).

The only gripe that I had, was that I got a little bit too greedy when filling one bag, and I forced the zipper closed which resulted in tearing of the bag. I know it was my own fault, so for the rest of the 11 bags that I had, I was very careful during the closing process. After reading a few reviews online, it seems that people get a much better seal if they move the zipper back and forth a few times to ensure a tight seal. You can do this or just slide your finger over the locking section if you're worried you might tear the bag (like me).

COMPACT TRANSPORTATION:
I did not even think of this idea until I had to move out of my 1 bedroom apartment into another, but having these Space Bags were a huge help. I own a 4 door sedan and having these Space Bags allowed me to fill my whole car with two closets and three dressers worth of clothing with plenty of room to spare! Although the bags do not vacuum down to a perfectly flat service, they are more than easy enough to stack on the seats of your car. In the past I used annoying Rubbermaid bins which often scratched/scuffed my car's leather seats, but the Space Bags are very forgiving and can be squeezed into tight places that hard plastic bins cannot!

The only downside that I have, is after filling these bags (to their capacity) they are very heavy! One bag with some particularly heavy clothing weighs close to 40 pounds, making it a bit difficult to carry multiple bags which was my hope since they compressed so small.

SUMMARY:
Among the best impulse buys that I have made. Just be careful when closing the zipper, as the bags can be easily torn if mishandled or overstuffed. Also be careful not to over-stuff since the bags get quite heavy pretty fast.

We used these for the first time to pack our camping gear - sleeping bags, pillows, and clothing. They worked so great, I want to space bag everything in my basement. I don't even care that once we open them and have to repack to come home, we'll be unable to re-vacuum them. It would be nice to have a portable vacuum for camping.

I could not be more disappointed in this product. I stored down comforters in the large bags - sleeping bags in other bags. When I opened them the following season - the smell of plastic permeated each blanket. I had to air them for days in order to use them. I had to wash the others. Most of the bags lost their 'seal' and expanded in the small space where they were stored. They did not perform at all as expected. I was caught up in the 'order now and get 2 free' cycle - so now I have plenty of 'space bags' that should be called 'stink bags'. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Did the job I needed it to do. Be careful not to let the slider for sealing the bag come off. Make sure you have them on a flat surface before sucking the air out so that your final package lays flat for stacking. Love them!!
