5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I ordered these!
These bags work so well for me! I am moving out to CA next week and these will definitely save space in my rental car. I fit so much into these bags. Overall I am very glad I ordered these.

3.0 out of 5 stars These should be better...
I fight a mighty large urge to say that I hate these things. I don't hate them. They work, to a degree, but be forewarned that these bags do not do all that they say they will. By that I mean that these bags may suck the air out and save space so-to-speak, but that air comes back gradually. These bags don't stay that small for long. Sure, they do stay somewhat small,...

Sure, they do stay somewhat small, but what they show you on the commercial is no where close to what they really do for you. As far as packing is concerned, they do the trick. The air is released gradually so you can pack tightly with no worries, but I've been using these to store my daughter's clothes away as she grows out of them and so when used as a space saver for a long extended period of time, they are not as great as one would like them to be. Also, these bags can be tricky to close, which can be frustrating. Bottom line is that these things work, but not as well as one would like. I use them, but I'm not a very happy customer.

3.0 out of 5 stars not so great, September 24, 2009

These are pretty impressive when you see the vacuum cleaner sucking all the air out of the bag, saving you all that space.

But in practice, about half of the bags have holes in them, and the air gradually gets back in by the time you arrive at your destination. I bought about 10 of these for moving a ton of clothes overseas recently, and when we arrived about half had expanded again.

In defense of this product, however:

1. This may not be because of a manufacturer's defect so much as that the unavoidable jostling of other items in your luggage during flight is probably going to pop a hole in the bag. [Some were confirmed to be manufacturer's defects, however.] Be that as it may, from your point of view it doesn't matter where the hole comes from.

2. Hole or no hole, they still might do the job for you, since the air comes back in gradually. Simply suck all the air out, pack your luggage and close it, since it's unlikely disaster would ensue should the bag expand while your suitcase is closed.

A final warning: you might think you're saving space by using these. And so you are. But that invariably tempts you to load your luggage past the weight limit and hence incur the attendant fees, leading me to question whether saving money can really be considered an advantage of this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not necessarily airtight., January 30, 2010

I bought 3 packages (3 bags each). Of the 9 I got, 4 have not held their airtightness (air leaks in and the bag expands).

3.0 out of 5 stars Size is important, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Space Bag BRS-5803-6 Dual-Use Vacuum-Seal and Roll Storage Bags, Set of 3, Large (Kitchen)
Given the other reviews, I won't mention leakage of air. However, my problem is with the cube sizes. They're huge. By the time you fill them halfway up and suck the air out, they're very heavy and nearly impossible for older folks to lift. I ended up dragging mine into the attic, which was a disaster since it tore the plastic. Don't get larger than the Large size if you're only thinking about storing clothes or bedding.

The bags are not as durable as I thought they would be. The zipper came off after 3 uses and the bag lost its seal after one night, it could be my fault for not sealing it correctly but who knows. The bag material is cheap and rigid. Great idea but needs work!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money. Doesn't work for long, September 29, 2011

Unfortunately, these bags (and I have every single size and type which I purchased when I was moving) do not last long. They stay well compressed for a few weeks, even months but that's it. After a while, all they can be used for is to store clothes just as a plastic bag would. Not worth the money unless using them once or twice is enough for you. So disappointed!

3.0 out of 5 stars I suppose they work, May 28, 2011

This review is from: Space Bag BRS-5803-6 Dual-Use Vacuum-Seal and Roll Storage Bags, Set of 3, Large (Kitchen)
These bags work like gigantic zip lock bags for you to pack things in, suck out the air and you have more room for stuff.

The good news:
They work
They have a one way circular flap that you should be able to attach any vacuum hose to to suck out the air
Big poofy clothes (for example, sweaters) will compact far more than less poofy (for example, dress shirts)
If you dont have a vacuum, you can roll or press out the air. In my trials, it was able 75% of maximum shrinkage achieved this way compared to a vacuum. All together with rolling/pressing, the clothes shrung down to half size. With a vacuum, it went down to a third.

Bad news
I dont think they could make these things any thinner. I fear that one zipper accident on the wrong side of a trip could ruin everything
Double zips with a slider to seal up the bags - the outer zip sealed very well, but the inner zip didnt latch in a few places. Easy fix, just go back and re-seal it with your fingers

Would I buy them again?
For the price and free shipping (via amazon prime), I probably would. I would be willing to pay more if they were a thicker plastic.

I needed these for a trip and they did they're job as advertised. The bag just ripped at the end of the trip. I might have been over packing them, but whatever. I definitely got 3 suitcases worth of clothes into one.

I will definitely buy them again

2.0 out of 5 stars Not reliable, July 5, 2010

This review is from: Space Bag BRS-5803-6 Dual-Use Vacuum-Seal and Roll Storage Bags, Set of 3, Large (Kitchen)
Out of the three bags we ordered, we have exactly one bag that works properly. Both of the others vacuum down well, but then re-inflate within a day or two.

We were very careful to seal them by sliding the plastic piece across the zippers multiple times and did not over stuff the bags - so I don't think there was an error on our parts.

It's unfortunate that none of the manufacturers of these type of bags can seem to get it right, because they really are wonderfully useful when they work.
