I purchased several boxes of the "Original Space Bag" 12-bag boxes in late 2004. I find that many of the bags keep a seal, and many do not. I am very careful to ensure the zipper is closed, and that the bags are properly filled (ie, not overstuffed).

The bags that work, work great! The ones that have a slow leak are frustrating, as you usually don't realize they're leaking until several days later -- after you've already placed the bags high in the closet.

Bought three "large" size from a local store. We were told they had been "redesigned"...I think with a "fill to here" line to prevent pressure on the sealed edge.

Two lost their vacuum and filled with air within 15 minutes and we returned the lot.

This is a great concept but there is clearly something wrong with the design - possibly the "zip-lock" type seal or possibly the valve.

In any event, we do not recommend the Space Bag and give it only one star because it does not work as advertised.

These bags are worthless.

When I got them, took them out of the packaging and put some clothes in them. Got the vacuum and drew the air out. An hour later, bags are full of air again.

We tried several times to get these to work. Making sure they weren't overfilled, that the Ziploc type seal was properly closed, etc., etc.

Don't waste your money. Someone wrote that the travel bags that you roll up to get the air out are heavy plastic, so maybe they work. But the regular vacuum type bags are expensive garbage bags.

After reading all of the bad reviews of this product, I had to put my two cents into the mix. I love these bags. Three years ago, I purchased a set of these bags, which contained various sizes etc, and packed up several bags of pillows, sheets, blankets to increase storage space and make the armoire a bit more presentable.

I packed one JUMBO bag so full, the only place to store it was under the bed after vacuuming. To this day, three years later, all but one of my bags have remained vacuumed packed but one faulty valve ( valve was deformed during manufacturing) on a closet hanging space bag.

Three years and not one leakage. I think that speaks wonders. The Jumbo bag under the bed got a torn hole in it after I moved the bag after about a year (my fault, bed frame tore the hole). Well, I looked the situation over, and since I had no more jumbo bags, I placed a piece of regular SCOTCH tape on the INSIDE of the bag to cover the hole, and then a second piece on the outside of the hole. I vacuum sealed the bag again, and as of this writing (TWO YEARS AFTER HOLE) the jumbo bag is STILL vacuumed packed and had NOT lost its seal.

Tonight I packaged up three comforter sets (queen sized) with sheets, shams etc for storage into one of the new Space bag Totes and I see no reason for this to give me any less of a great way to store as my previous purchases have been.

That is three years, no leaks, no bad seals but for the faulty valve on one bag. I am pleased with these bags and products and will continue to purchase as my needs arise.

Be thankful that the bags don't really keep out the air!! My problem is worse than that!! I bought the bags last fall to take care of my winter/summer items...blankets, summer clothes, etc. I put in my lightweight sheets and blankets and when I got them out this year I was nearly blown over by the chemical smell. It reminds me of paint thinner! I have washed them now 3 times with detergent & fabric softener, and tried Febreeze-ing them and hanging them outside on the line, but to no avail!! I think my bedding set is a total loss!!! I was soooooo careful to make sure that the bedding was totally dry before packing it away so there would be no molding issue, and there doesn't appear to be, just this lingering chemical smell. I have never been more disappointed with any item as I am with this. I could cry! Please, more so than not wanting anyone to waste their money, I would hate to see this happen to anyone else!! Thank goodness I didn't put my Grandmothers quilt in one!!! I guess this is what happens when one of the bags actually is airtight!! None of the other bags I used held the seal or smelled like this!!

This product is no better than an ordinary Ziploc bag. The plastic is cheap and tears easily. Even with the bag perfectly sealed it let air in in less than a week. I guess I will stick with trash bags because they work better and are cheaper. Don't waste your money on this product.

I find these bags very valuable for saving space. I have 15 and I am ordering 15 more. We have two kids and want to save the clothes they outgrow in case we have more children. That is a lot of clothes! These bags have helped me store them in the limited space we have.

I initially had some problems getting the bags to seal. The "zipper" on the bags are useless - you have to use your fingers to seal them - just like a sandwich bag. Once you are sure there are no leaks you simply vacuum the air out. (My kids love to watch this part!) I have had most of mine in the garage for many months now and they have all remained sealed. I think once you figure out how to work these bags you will love them.

If these things were well made the price would be high. But they're cheaply made garbage so that the price is outrageous. When they work, they do save a fair bit of space but you can pretty much count on them leaking. Save your money.

This product is not even close to what it is advertised as. Great idea, but the "air-tight and water-tight" claim is a big fat bust. Looks fantastic when you first vacuum it all up, but wait just a few hours to see the air seep back in. It's so frustrating that it makes you want to scream. I haven't seen one bag hold the vacuum seal yet. My advice - - - use the $30 on a manicure and pedicure instead.

I put some blankets in one of the jumbo bags and within HOURS some of the air was back into the bag. The plastic material these are made out of is much too thin.

Really disappointed - love the idea and wish I could find a brand that actually does what it promises
