I read this one summer when I was about 12. I'd love to read it again and see if it's as good as in my memory. It came from the public library then... but no copies of this now, that I can find.

Update, May 2010: Guess you can't go home again. Received this book via an interlibrary loan. Just could not get into reading the whole thing again, was fairly bored. Returned it right away so a younger reader could discover it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well loved early SF book, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Space captives of the golden men
As I recall, I must have been around 10 or so when I read this, 50 years ago.

It was a library book that had a profound effect on me and was one of a handful of books that started me on a lifelong love of Science Fiction. I still remember various elements of the plot, like the tunnels, Moyn (sp?) Door, and Wormisaur.

I had not remembered the title or author, but was able to google and find it mentioned in a groups' discussion thread.

The hardbound copy is for sale at Marketplace for almost $500!! Gosh, I wish I'd invested my allowance in a copy. LOL!

I'd love to get a copy of this for my nephew to read but that amount of money would go into a bond for college first.

Too bad they don't re-issue it and perhaps other Mary Patchett books.
