In the hope that the series is reissued.,

This review is from: Space Cat (Hardcover)
Space Cat, Space Cat Visits Venus, Space Cat Meets Mars, and Space Cat and the Kittens, are all favorites from my childhood, and my adulthood. I rechecked them to read to my children and would like to have the rest to keep my copy of Space Cat company in my private library and to share with my grandchildren.

The "Space Cat" series is my most favorite reading from my Elementary school years!!! I, too, renewed as often as permitted, read them to my cousins, and whoever else would listen. As an adult, I've read them to my children, and have been searching for a way to have them as part of our family library. This is great!!!

A moving story read as a child and never forgotten.,

I have been searching for the book "Space Cat Meets Mars" for decades. If "Space Cat" is the same book, I read it in the 1960's when in elementary school, and renewed it as many times as the library would allow. As the years passed, I never forgot what an incredible impact this story had on me as a child. Now after more than 30 years, I don't recall precisely the story line or details, yet I do recall the book as part of a fond childhood memory.

I, too, read Space Cat as a child, and have never forgotten it. I fully intend to purchase a copy now that I know it's back in print. Several years ago I found a lapel pin of a cat in a space suit which reminded me of this book. The pin is now a fixture on my coat, and this book will forever be a fixture on my bookshelf...and in my heart.

Space Cat rules!,

I loved this book as a child -- even though by then Neil Armstrong's real life adventures had made the science fiction obsolete. A good story is a good story, and kids will love the brave and resourseful cat.

I read this book when I was five, and still love it.,

I read this book when I was about five years old. It was the first book that made me cry. I thought it was incredibly moving when Flyball looked up at the moon after having been there. It probably started a lifelong love of science fiction. A wonderful adventure, a wonderful book

After having read and reread and reread ad infinitum my local library's copy of this book and its sequels when I was a child, I went looking for it about ten years ago only to be told it was out of print. To say that I'm pleased to see it back in print would be an understatement. Like the previous reviewer, this was probably the earliest science fiction book I read, and I was hooked on the genre immediately.

I still remember these books! Incredible.
When our cat had kittens, we named the black and white one Flyball! When I was in my twenties I went to the library and reread them again, and let my kids read them. So glad they are available again! Space Cat!

Space Cat and other Science Fiction,

I also read the Space Cat books when I was a kid but haven't read them since. I want to so I'll look for them. I had a question for those who say this introduced them to science fiction--do you remember a book from the same time period (I think) about two boys who steal their father's science work, thinking to make themselves bigger, but shrink instead and have all sorts of adventures with insects while trying to get home? I remember reading and rereading that but I don't know the title or author!
In the end, they found out that if they'd gotten the potion that would make them big, they probably would have died because it didn't work right. MHC |
