I was hoping this was the same Pillsbury Space Food Sticks we knew in the 70's. But its not. That's not to say its not good, it is! But its a lot more like a big soft Tootsie Roll. I love Tootsie Rolls, so you could do worse, but if you are ordering thinking you'll be flooded with the taste of yesteryear, save your money. Its good, but its not the original.

I originally bought the space food sampler, and of all the items inside, I LOVED the space food sticks! Even peanut butter was good, even though I usually dislike the taste of it. The small packaged energy bars are perfect when you feel like your sweet tooth is craving something chocolatey.
Highly recommended!

I used to buy Space Food Sticks for my daughter when she was little and she's missed them ever since they were discontinued. I bought her a whole box and she says they're as good as she remembers. She keeps some in her desk at work.

Way over-priced for what you get.. a couple dozen tiny sticks. But, the bad part, is that they do NOT taste like the originals from the 1970's. It is a totally different product, but same name... kinda tricky; I don't like that. I wanted the original. Why can't they get that recipe? Also, they are sickly sweet. They need to lay off on the sugar. Plus, no ingredients listed, so God only know what's in these things. They are cute for kids or something like a novelty gift, but that's it. P.S. Magnet is cheap, printed off a printer and super thin and flexible.

Space Food Sticks were a big part of my youth. The food of the astronaut gods! I was a bit wary about this new version of those fabulous Sticks from my childhood days (especially after trying some Australian version a few years back). I'm happy to tell all those SFS fans from the 1970s, these are the real deal--the same chewy delicious taste I remember and a really unique snack. Unlike some reviewer who said these were 210 calories I checked the label and they're only 130 calories for a whole entire stick. For anyone who buys energy bars, these are a great alternative and a really good price, almost $1.00 a stick. I highly recommend Space Food Sticks (Chocolate).

I'm giving this five starts for nostalgia only because the taste, really, is fairly unpleasant. As a kid I used to hike the Grand Canyon quite a bit and these were great because, yes they are full of energy, but also they were light and didn't add to the backpack weight. I can't believe the price on these now because it's painfully obvious that they are priced for nostalgia. Enjoy if you can...still brings back memories.

I was so happy to possibly have a taste of my childhood with the space sticks... they were not at all the same. It seems that they have made them more into a "energy bar" .. they taste totally different and are much harder than the original ones. I was not happy with them at all. Oh well..

Talk about childhood memories. I got this for my husband as a novelty fathers day gift. We both have fond memories of eating astronaut food and drinking tang back in the early seventies and had been talking about it for weeks when I decided to go on a search for this. I had no idea that someone still made this or at least pretty similar.
We watched the final shuttle mission with a glass of tang and our space food sticks just last week. This is not quite the same as the original..the calories are certainly a lot higher in this new one, but the taste if pretty close to the real McCoy.

Way to sweet. They are nothing like they used to be in the 70's.
Maybe I should have gotten peanut butter. But they are probably
to sweet too. Oh well.....

I suppose I am old enough to remember when this product was first released way back when, but I never indulged.
Recently,a friend gave a few bars to me to share with my teenagers. The bars did not make it past me. Late night snack heaven. I am not a major chocolate fan but I still like these. Nice texture and not too overwhelming flavor. I am no huge fan of candy but this is cool and the retro effect makes it a keeper in my book. On to the peanut butter flavor .
