5.0 out of 5 stars Best soundtrack I've ever heard, December 1, 1999
By
jasenao (Dothan, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
To put it plain and simple, this is a great cd. All the songs are good. I don't like rap music that much but I liked the ones from this album. Most soundtracks just have 1 or 2 great songs, but this one has a lot of them. Without a doubt, this is the best soundtrack that I've ever listened to. For most soundtracks, i'd recommend you to just get the single of the song you like, but you need to get this whole album. I liked Fly Like An Eagle, the Monstars' Anthem, and I Believe I Can Fly the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly compliments the movie, February 12, 2003
When I first heard that there was a new movie called Space Jam starring Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny, I was like, "Huh?" I wasn't really interested in seeing it (it turns out the movie IS pretty good), but I heard from my friends that the soundtrack is pretty decent. I listened to it, and they were right.

The soundtrack seems to be PG-rated (if THAT), and it's a good thing because the movie is like that too. But another thing is that it seems to be targeted toward the high school audience (I was 15 when this came out), so if you're over 18, don't expect to be bumping this in your car or anything. This isn't to say the soundtrack is bad. There are great songs like R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly", Monica's "For You I Will", and D'Angelo's "I Found My Smile Again". All-4-One also shows up to sing "I Turn To You", which most people probably didn't know was recorded before Christina Aguilera's 2000 #3 hit. I like Christina's rendition better, but this version is still good.

Since Space Jam is about basketball, it wouldn't be right not to have some energetic tracks on here. B-Real, Busta Rhymes, Coolio, LL Cool J and Method Man bring us The Monstars' Anthem (the Monstars were the opposing team in the movie), otherwise known as "Hit `Em High". And the title track, performed by Quad City DJs, is decent, but all their songs sound the same to me.

The last song is the humorous "Buggin'" as performed by Bugs Bunny (and was written by Jay-Z, I must add). Bugs and the other characters are voiced by Billy West (best known as the voice of the Honey Nut Cheerios bee), but at the end of the song it sounds like he's getting lazy with the voice (of Bugs, anyway). And I'm not exactly sure why Robin S. (of "Show Me Love" fame) is on here, but her "Givin' U All That I've Got" sounds like her other songs too. But regardless, this soundtrack was a perfect match for the movie. I don't really listen to it that much now, but it's still great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jammin'!, January 8, 2000
By A Customer
This is the best soundtrack I own(considering I only have 2,the other one is Titanic). It's for fans of pop/rock, r&b, and rap alike. About the highlights: 1. "Fly Like an Eagle"- Beautiful, inspirational, and uplifting. 4. "I Believe I can Fly"- Good for anyone going thru hard times. 3. "Space Jam"- It made me want to dance, which was unfortunate because I don't do that very well. 7. "For You I Will"- A melodic, but overplayed ballad. 8. "Upside Down"- A remake of the Diana Ross hit. Music to reminisce about your crushes to. 9. "Givin' U All That I've Got"- Slammin' beat, although I didn't always understand what Robin S. was singing. 10. "Basketball Jones"- Hilarious and written by none other than Cheech and Chong. 13. "That's the Way"- Another cover, this time of KC & the Sunshine Band. It's funky. The other songs were too hip-hop. Contrary to what another reviewer said, this CD had just the right amount of singing(he or she must be a rap fan). "I Turn to You" is alright(now,it's also a Christina Aguilera song). "Buggin'" was OK, but eventually it gets annoying. "Space Jam" has more good songs than most CD's. Buy it,everybody!
