Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
While taking my son to Space Camp this summer at KSC, I went with the hope of finding a new Space Sim that offered the landing experience that the "Liftoff" Space Sim (which I bought at KSC 10 years ago) did not offer. Wow did I find one.
I owned the old Microsoft Space Sim back in the day that Im sure many of you have tried. The shuttle option of that one was always too programed and they basically did everything for you.
With this, you actually feel the work load of what the Astronauts go through up there.

If you are looking for an easy game and something to shoot, this is not for you.
If you are looking for the purest Space Shuttle Experience outside of NASA itself? This is for you. If you like to think? This is for you. Its very fun and exciting. When I completed STS-1, and I stuck my landing, having begun the mission 3 days earlier, I felt like I had actually been in that Shuttle for a true mission length.

I learned so much and was so inspired. I have a new found respect for the men and women who worked on this program for 30 years. Given the fact that it has been taken from us this is all thats left for us to have of the Shuttle Program.

Get this Simulator. You will not be disappointed. If you have a working knowledge of flight sims (like Falcon 4.0 - Battle field operations,EF2000, or Microsoft Flight Sims) You will enjoy this even more. The Graphics were so amazing I took pictures!! Having the chance to take shots of my shuttle and the beauty of this planet we live on was breath taking for me. Now just think, if it looks this good on a laptop, imagine what it looks like for real. My compliments to the developers of this Sim seriously.

The Shuttle is detailed to the extreme. Everything in there works!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic simulation of space shuttle operations August 16, 2010
By Nats
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
A superb simulation of the space shuttle and now includes the first Ares launch as an extra viewable mission. This game follows in the footsteps of the original Virgin Games 1992 Shuttle game for the Amiga, PC and Atari although whereas that one had you start a mission rolling to the launch pad, here you start the mission an hour before launch. And unlike that game this one is generally very stable and you can actually finish the last mission!

About 22 shuttle missions are included all of which comprise launch, orbit ops, re-entry and landing. There are lots of buttons to press in complex sequences, switches to select and a lot of patience is required to operate the MRS shuttle arm in space to retrieve and deploy satellites etc. The launch and re-entry are automated but you get control of orbit ops and landing as in the real thing. So this game isnt for everyone. You have to have a passion for spaceflight and lots of patience.

The developer has continued to support the game releasing new missions as time goes on. There is a new version of the game slated for release around December which promises better earth graphics. In fact this is the only reason I gave this game 4 stars and not five, the earth graphics are not all that great - they arent bad but certainly they dont have you looking down on the earth going wow! Except when the sun comes up that is pretty eye catching. The dark side graphics are particularly lame with big splodges of what can only be assumed to be city lights. However the shuttle is very well modelled and so is the ISS, less well modelled are the payloads. Not anything to complain about loudly but again some of the satellites wont have you gasping in appreciation of the detail.

2.0 out of 5 stars This program is vaporware. November 9, 2013
Verified Purchase
This game is vaporware. I bought this because the site said that they were working on incrimental updates and had lots of screenshots showing major improvements. The unfortunate truth is that the site is no longer taking regestration, and you are limited to only two installations of the software before you must contact the company(which is not responding to emails any longer) Buyer beware, therwise a fun game.

3.0 out of 5 stars PC-DOS Shuttle Better August 7, 2012

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This Space Shuttle sim has a few major problems.
1. No option for changing screen resolution.
2. No user defined keyboard mapping and very few hot keys & mapped keys. 1992 Shuttle sim had far, far more!
3. Web Based DRM copy protection-can only be used on one machine-should you want to install on a new PC, it requires contacting them for new activation-very user UN-friendly.

Personally, while _some_ of the graphics are better than 1992 Vektor Grafix PC-Dos Shuttle, I find the control panel displays better in the older sim and can certainly read the fonts much better! Much more enjoyable for me too.

btw-1992 Shuttle PC-DOS floppy version or the CD-ROM version can be easily played on modern machines using Dosbox.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
An extremely realistic simulator of NASA's Space Shuttle...These guys have modeled every panel, switch, button, computer screen, camera, mechanism, etcetera. Besides that it contains much of the communication and checklists for experiencing a true mission. You'll definitely want a 3-axis joystick for working with Canadarm to manipulate satellites, conducting a space walk, docking to the International Space Station, or landing the orbiter.

You can play in real-time or use timeskip. Easy mode will guide you to the correct switches and such, or advanced mode just leaves it up to you. Check out all the screenshots on their web site to see the myriad views inside and outside the shuttle.

The only thing missing is the astronauts proceeding to ingress.

As an avid flight simmer and astronaut wannabee - I am extremely pleased with this software!
