5.0 out of 5 stars Under the cheesy cover..., June 10, 2000
This review is from: Spaceglider (Audio CD)
With all due respect to Bidiol (the cover artist), the exterior of this album isn't going to win any awards. However, what lies within is a superb piece of ambient techno-trance. You may have heard the highly danceable "Hale Bopp" on other compilations. Forget compilations; "Spaceglider" is a prime example of why original artists' releases are nearly always better. Andreas Krueger starts out with a delectably simply rhythm and overlays it with complex light electronica that will have you floating seamlessly from "Schwerelos" onward. "Polarstern" picks up the energy and introduces a bit of a darker groove, which hardens and flawlessly blends into the heavier, deeper beat of "Lava". These tracks alone may pale the flagship single "Hale Bopp", but all of them count towards the five-star rating of this album. Krueger's mixing is so damn near perfect that you almost start picking on the insignifica - "Couldn't you have made it any harder? Throw in a house beat? How about another bassline?" The answer is probably yes, but it wouldn't have been "Spaceglider". You'll love it for what it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Open your ears and enjoy!, September 8, 2000

OK, I will admit that I am not that thrilled with the first two of songs on this cd; but, I find the majority of the tracks on this cd to be exceptionally fantastic. The wonderful sounds of Polarstern, Lava, Hale Bopp, and Zwischenwelt will totally carry you away. The music is complex, intelligent and diverse.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd Album, August 30, 1999

Spaceglider (in German: Raumgleiter) is their 3rd album yet. "Wellenbad" is the 2nd, but you should look for their first one, "Mental Modulator". I think it's the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lava and Hale Bopp worth buying album for, November 21, 2005

Most of this album is right on the border between tech-trance and electro style music. Like a cross between Kraftwerk and Ritchie Hawtin...

Tech-trance/tech-house lovers will like listening to this album. The songs Lava and Hale Bopp are by far the two best on the album.. Lava has some mind-altering floaty trance melodies layered with awesome tech beats.. Hale Bopp is an electronica classic with hands down the best melody on this album (and the main reason I purchased this).

If you're looking for some good tech/trance type music in the 135 BPM range, this is a good buy for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars a monumentous journey into space, April 26, 2005

This album is an undoutable work of a brillant mastermind. I've been spinning breaks for five years, and have been in the music scene for ten. You can't compare this album to any other techno on the planet. Every time I listen to it from start to finish is like taking a trip to space, this album is the cheapest mind-altering experiance in the world. Once Infrarot starts up you can imagine yourself being strapped into the shuttle, followed through to hale bopp and the journey is still not over. Any one that loves back breaking beats, and crisp mids, and intense highs will appreciate this sheer work of genious. A must have for the serious tech lover.

Within the evolution of trance is a core, Der Dritte Raum understands this. They weave and accelerate the essence of the sound with seamless logic. A massive statement for the scene and a reconstituted foundation for the next step in the movement. Study, learn, revel.
