GE Spacemaker JVM1850SMSS 1.8 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven 1100 Watts Stainless Steel

I had been renting in an apartment community that went condo last year and had GE white appliances when I was renting that had no problems during my three years residing there. I bought a brand new refurbished condo in my community with new GE appliances and have had problems during the first year with some of the large kitchen appliances including this particular model microwave. After some research on line, I found similar defects reported from other individuals that bought this product. There are plastic brackets inside the handle that have melted off (and I checked all measurements from the stove and they meet specifications)and then you have holes where the brackets were. Unsafe for one and when I had GE come to service it, they offered me another door, which is course the same exact door even though I know other GE models have different doors that fit a particular model. The door is being sent to my house and I will again have to take time off for GE to install and hope that the brackets will not melt once again. I'd recommend putting your money down on a well-reputed appliance other than GE.

Don't buy this microwave!! I purchased this microwave just over a year ago and I am so disappointed. Within 2 weeks it seemed noisier than it had at first but wasn't sure if it was just me. Also the turntable motor started vibrating. The turntable was making a grinding sound. GE repairman replaced the turntable motor but said I just have a loud magnatron tube and since it still cooked well he wouldn't fix it. Great service!! So I lived with it but still felt that it is way too loud. When people visiting asked what the heck is wrong with my microwave, I called repairman out again. He replaced a fuse and put in another magnatron but it was just as loud if not louder. He shrugged and said these tubes are just loud. If that is true then don't buy this microwave. I am serious!! When it is on we can't converse in the kitchen. Now the popcorn sensor is not working so I am having the repairman out again this week. I am going to insist he try another magnatron tube too. I am hoping one of these times I will get a quiet one. By the way the tubes are made by Samsung so not sure a Samsung would be so good either.

I love this microwave. Its beautiful, modern and works excellent. I would highly recommend it.

This item was received with poor packing, and had dents all over the frame, all sides... like it was drop-kicked all the way from NY. Sent it back for RMA, sent item back and took a long time to get my credit back.
