I just saw a rerun of SNL featuring the Killers performing two sets, one being Spaceman, the very composition that got me going awhile ago in posting reviews on this phenomenal and consistently successful group emanating from an unusual venue for alternative rock, Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1971 I shook hands with Joe Louis in front of Caesars palace and proceeded into the showplace to see the Tony Bennett Show. Ii is my distinct view that Brandon Flowers is or will become shortly the Robert Plant of the new Electronic Age. Similarly, Billy Joe Armstrong may be the Paul McCartney of the IPhone generation. The comparisons I am making are in no way quality evaluations. We know that the predecessors of rock in 2009 were brilliant singer songwriters and certainly there will never be another Yesterday or Stairway to Heaven. That was a long time ago and Brandon Flowers who is a slender man and therefore has unlimited energy and expressiveness when he performs lyrically topical and fascinating entries such as Human and Spaceman is today, current and followed by the fans as a veritable contemporary. The Killers represent not only change in musical tastes but the vibrancy and excitement that was exhibited by young people almost 50 years ago when the mop heads got off the plane. Jay Adler
