Pete Droge is good, he plays plain and simple good music. Just listen to his records and you'll know what I mean............ (folkish/rockish/alternative ballad/adult alternative/also my 7 yr. old daughter loves him, so he plays child alternative also)

Glad I discovered this cat!,

I had never heard of this fellow until I saw this CD in the Tower Records listening station when it first hit the stores. I put on the headphones and stood transfixed for the next hour, listening to the entire album all the way through! I couldn't put it down! How to describe it? Sort of like Tom Petty (he sounds a lot like Petty) doing pop psychedelia with a 90's Seattle-sound twist. Huh? Hard to describe, but all I know is that it's one of those records where every note, every lick, EVERYTHING just sounds right. Beats the pants off of anything on "classic rock" or "alternative rock" radio, that's for sure!

Roots and Roll Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spacey & Shakin (Audio CD)
Pete Droges's style is pretty simple yet so crisp and ranchy. Obviosly he has roots influence (very important today in the world of elecronica) with added dash of rockNroll. All his 3 CDs are pretty good. "Spacey and Shakin" though is a little bit harder than the his previous records. I like this one most and yeah also my 6 year old girl loves it. Miles of Smiles,
By Corduroy Angel (Abby) (Cumbria, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spacey & Shakin (Audio CD)
This is the definitive Pete Droge album to own... heavy, melodic, sublime, at times pensive but often so euphoric - a great collection of original songs which rise and swirl, filling the air with a wall of sound. Previous albums were Tom Petty-influenced and nowhere near the same quality excepting, of course, the wonderful Dear Diane. Some songs on this album require repeated listenings to allow them the chance to grow, but grow they will. If you chance upon this album don't be afraid to buy it, it'll make you smile.

Upped to 4 Stars,
This review is from: Spacey & Shakin (Audio CD)
After a few more listens, I've decided this is a 4 star album after all. (To me, the crucial difference is that a 3 star is something I can put on in the background and not be bothered by it. A 4 star album is interesting enough to keep me listening and noticing the details.)
This is not a wailing, crashing guitar style of rock n' roll. It's more of a strolling, melodic type like Joe Walsh or Tom Petty. Maybe Ian Moore, too. In fact, I think the best songs on here are the slow, contemplative ones like "Eyes on the Ceiling", "Blink of a Kiss" and "Walking by My Side". It goes well with a long drive, late at night. Pete's songs have an element of humility and confusion about them, which is refreshing among the egos and braggarts in today's music. Definately get this CD, is you like to really listen to your choices.

An album with an equal number of hits and misses..,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spacey & Shakin (Audio CD)
A few years from now this album will probably be seen as transitional. To be honest these songs are great fun live, but on the CD they don't contain the same emotional depth. When I want to hear Pete, I find myself putting on the earlier more introspective albums. They're less in your face noise. Regardless, do yourself a big favor and go see him while he's still touring the smaller clubs.

Pete Droge is Pete Droge (and no one else!),

While it may come up a bit short of his Find a Door album, Pete Droge certainly doesn't disappoint with this album. Straightforward, hard-drivin' melodies with precision rock musicianship make this an absolute joy to put on, sway and bounce to and thoroughly enjoy. More people need to take a chance on this man's music because it is truly remarkable. Plain ol' hammerin' rock and roll in a time when everyone considers themselves a specialist. Do yourself a favor and buy all of Pete's albums!
