Beautiful, thought provoking and evocative, September 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spaghetti Western (Audio CD)
Bill Bonk writes simple, beautiful folk rock tunes. From Spaghetti Western's Neil Finn-ish opener Calico, through to the wonderful Still Waters Run Deep and World Gone Mad, this album is consistently lush and listenable. Bill has toured with the likes of Ron Sexsmith and Grant Lee Buffalo, and has shown that he is both a wonderful musician and a great personality in his own right. The lyrics are thought provoking and unpretentious, and the tunes tend to lull you and suck you in. As is the norm apparently with many of the Hollywood underground set (Grant Lee Buffalo, Phil Parlapiano, etc) Bill is an under appreciated artist who produces quality work. This is without a doubt a fine album. Bring on the second!
