4.0 out of 5 stars Death Rides a Horse...While Listening to This!
This CD is labeled "Volume Three," but it works best as "Volume Two B," believe you me. Let me explain.

I do have to say, this album almost stands as the best single album of the series (so far). Partially, this is the problem. All the other albums in the series were two CD's. This is just one. Even though all the tracks are very, very listenable, there are...

3.0 out of 5 stars fake western music
I gave this CD 3 stars because its good quality. But, the Italian 'westerns' and their soundtracks were a big joke. They were shot mostly in Spain where the countryside looks anything but western, and the sorry Italian music was an insult to the real westerns and the real west. Sergio Leone and the others should have stuck to singing Finiculi Finicula instead of making...

4.0 out of 5 stars Death Rides a Horse...While Listening to This!, July 9, 2005
This review is from: Spaghetti Westerns, Volume Three (Film Score Compilation) (Audio CD)
This CD is labeled "Volume Three," but it works best as "Volume Two B," believe you me. Let me explain.

I do have to say, this album almost stands as the best single album of the series (so far). Partially, this is the problem. All the other albums in the series were two CD's. This is just one. Even though all the tracks are very, very listenable, there are only half of them. And, as any good gunslinger knows, two revolvers just aren't as effective if only one of them's loaded...

Despite the slight bump, the album really does hold up well. It continues the tradition of including pieces of music from some of the lesser known films of the spaghetti western genre. At the same time, it gives us alternative versions (the Ennio Morricone alternative versions, for example, provide a much simpler, more streamlined, and sometimes longer, view of his music), or continuations of tracks from some of the movies of Volume Two of this series. In this way, to fully appreciate this CD, you'd best to buy the one previous. Of course, if you haven't done that, why are you even reading this?

And for those keeping score, the only music in this album that I recognize from the video game Red Dead Revolver is (and I could be wrong) located in the track "Seven Guns for a Killing." Just one left; I'm tired.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, June 1, 2005

This review is from: Spaghetti Westerns, Volume Three (Film Score Compilation) (Audio CD)
I have a very extensive music collection, and was looking for something missing: that beautiful but haunted and lonely sound of Ennio Morricone's music: spaghetti westerns!
I was simply looking for all the soundtracks from those countless obscure Italian Westerns that where made in the 60s and 70s. But how to find them, or worse, the titles?
This collection, as well as Part 2, 3, and 4, hosts them probably all. It also has an extensive booklet with very good info on the music, as well as the movies that made them, or is it the other way around? This set is simply the best Italian Western music money can buy, and should be famous and sold-out!
I recommend to buy all 4 sets!

This is a great cd. If you like Italian Western music, this is one to get and check out. Sure, there is some fillers in here but mostly true Ennio Morricone and others that make up most of this cd and is a delight to listen to.
