5.0 out of 5 stars Sent to Iraq for the troops to hand out to kids.
What can I say? The good old Spaldeen hi-bounce that we used to play stick ball with. I purchased a case of them and sent them to Iraq for the troops to use to spread good will with the kids. The Soldiers and the kids had a blast playing stick ball, catch, hand ball and inventing their own games. Good high quality rubber balls. Anyone who grew up in the City knows...

3.0 out of 5 stars Like a racquetball but larger
If you are looking for a hollow bouncing ball, you will probably like this ball. I was looking for a solid rubber ball for foot exercises. This ball will not suffice for that use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spaulding Ball, January 17, 2009

The ball itself is exactly what I expected. It was a stocking stuffer for a very old BOY. He remembered them from his childhood. The only issue is that the ball is advertised as a "Spaldeen" ball - which is what he specifically asked for. However, the ball itself comes as a "Spaulding" ball - likely the company that now owns/makes them. Therefore, it wasn't quite what he wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review the ITEM ,,, It's as close as you will come to the old PINKY!, January 14, 2012

OK ,,, some reviews on here are complaining about shipping costs (which has NOTHING to do with the quality of this product) and another complains that he thought the ball was solid ... and of course ,, it is not. Now ,,,, to the ball. Stickball was a way of life growing up in my old neighborhood and we played from right after breakfast until lunch and then went back until dinner ...and then went back until we couldn't see anymore due to darkness. The BALL of the time was called a "PENSY PINKY" and actually had the state seal of some sort from Pennsylvania stamped on it. These were the greatest balls ever made!! We were kids of course and could afford one ball (50 cents in 1967!!) and if we hit it in a yard well ,,,, we looked and looked in hopes of locating it. if not ,,, well ,,, we waited for next weeks allowance to get another ball! In my adulthood, and being gainfully employed, I discovered these balls ,,, the so called "Spaldeen" on a now defunct website. Well ,,, the memories all came back instantly of the great games and good times. I bought a case of TWENTY of them. (Big spender) and invited co-workers to the old schoolyard for a game of stickball. Well -- i was a better hitter at 12 years old than at 45 thats for sure.

The best part was .... if we hit the ball in a yard or ,,, hit a home run (rare but yes) we just let the neighborhood kids who were watching fetch and keep the balls. This ball is the closest I have found to my childhood "PENSY PINKIE" and the price is right here. Great replica (not perfect) of the awesome pinkies of the 1960s. Grab a broomstick and get these balls and have some fun!

And ... those kids who we let keep the balls?? They were grateful. But....and this is for real ,,,, they asked if we were playing an "old timer's game!" I suppose we were.

Not at all what I expected, shipping cost as much as item, I ordered a cd and the ball so delivery packages should have been together. Display of item was not clear to me, I thought it would be larger in size.
