4.0 out of 5 stars hoop assembly, April 15, 2011
This review is from: Spalding 68454 NBA Tempered Glass 54 Inch Screw Jack Portable Basketba (Misc.)
This hoop would have had 5 stars if the assemby would heve been easier. I read reviews for several days before choosing this system. The assembly took me about 4 hours by myself. It could have been done in 3 with help. All reviews I read talked about how difficult it was to assemble the pole sections. This step took me about 5 minutes. You have to bounce them firmly on a wood block and they go together very nicely. The most difficult part of assembly was attaching the back board. This step needs 2 adults. When attaching the hoop I spent about 15 minutes looking for the spacers then I remember one of the reviews that said these were already installed on the backboard, and sure enough they were. I filled the base with water and antifreeze. Once complete this system is solid. You do get some movement when the ball hits the backboard, but nothing like cheaper systems. This system is well worth the money, and I would recommend it if your looking for a system that will last many years. Remember to read the reviews. Ed

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hoop - Hard to Assemble, December 29, 2010
This review is from: Spalding 68454 NBA Tempered Glass 54 Inch Screw Jack Portable Basketba (Misc.)
It took forever to assemble this hoop, but now that it is assembled, it is exactly what I expected - a great portable hoop. The backboard is extremely stable and rebounds very well - about as good as I could expect for a portable system. It is also easy to change the height. Once assembled, it was easy to move the system.

In order "bounce" the pieces of the pole together on a piece of scrap wood (per the instructions), I found it necessary to stand on a ladder a hurl the pieces toward the piece of wood with all of my force. I found it was difficult to attach the backboard and rim to the pole - even with two people - because the wheels on the base would roll.
