Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Spalding In-Ground Basketball System with 60-inch Aluminum Framed Acrylic Backboard (Sports)
Got this hoop system this summer and the neighbors are jealous. Most purchased their cheep systems locally and spent more. I got mine from Amazon and it was delivered to my garage without issue. Took about 3 hours to install with the help of my son and wife. Initially filled it with water but changed to sand to prevent having to use antifreeze for MN winters.
Large backboard is awesome with good rebound and no worries about breaking glass. The only problem I have with the system is that is seams to be tilted forward away from verticle. Not sure if this affects shots, but so far not a problem. There is a problem with rain water getting between the backboard frame and the acrylic backboard. Everytime we shoot hoops after a rain, rust water splashed from the backboard. I drilled a hole in the corners of the backboard frame and rusty water came out slowly over 2 days. I think the hole has prevented the build up of water, but I also used a tube of silicon caulk to seal the acrylic backboard to the frame to prevent water from getting behind the frame and pooling. Happy with the purchase, but wished there was an option to convert to an inground system later on. Called Spalding and was told there was no such option. Not ready to dig a hole for the inground system this year, but wanted to do some driveway expansion next year and move the hoop to a permanent location. |
