5.0 out of 5 stars A Top Read, October 14, 2003

It's a good thing we're all different, or life would be incredibly boring. I picked up Helen Bianchin's, In the Spaniard's Bed, and couldn't put it down. Rich, successful and sexy, Diego is to die for. This book is pure sensual fantasy, and a perfect example of what Presents books are all about. If you want a lush, passionate read that will carry you away, get your hands on In The Spaniard's Bed - before they're all gone!

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT did the other reviewer read?, September 26, 2003

Excuse me? "A touch of sadness"? How about the blackmail, truly disgusting blackmail, that the hero uses to get the heroine to sleep with him? He won't tell her dying father that the heroine's brother is a homosexual, plus he'll save the family business, IF she sleeps with him three times.

Sorry but the author lost me after that. I could not believe any woman would forgive that kind of behavior, let alone fall in love with the hero after it. The author tries to fob off the blackmail toward the end, by having the hero admit he was "forced" into this behavior, because the heroine turned him down on dates for a year -- HOW WEAK! He couldn't take her rejection so he decided to blackmail her into bed. UGH. This book is no romance, it's just plain disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

His blackmailed mistress!

Diego de Santo: dynamic, charismatic, he's made millions--and he believes everything is for sale...

Comments:

Ok. I really had problem with this book. I don't see how the heroine could fall in love with someone who blackmailed her into becoming his mistress. If she sleeps with him three times he won't tell her dying father that her brother is gay and he'll also save the family business. Say what?!? I just couldn't get pass how any woman would want to be with someone who blackmails her and her family just for sex. The author tried to shrug off the hero's behavior at the end, but it didn't wash for me. He was supposedly forced into acting this way because the heroine turned him down for some dates and wouldn't let him get that close to her. Definitely a major disappointment and waste of money.
