I love this bilingual series of books and I hope that DK publishing keeps bringing out more titles. I think, however, that the age range is a bit wrong. I think that this book can be enjoyed as early as 2 years of age, when a child is learning the objects around them. Be sure and check out "My First Spanish Word Board Book" and "My First Spanish Farm Board Book."

My son - 15 months old - can already name some of the animals in English. I think that this book is appropriate for ages one and up. It's a good tool to get your child to use the words he has learned.

I agree with the previous reviews that the age range on this is a misleading. This book can be enjoyed as early as you would like to introduce it to your baby or child. It is never to early to start reading to your child! The board book format makes it safe for all ages and both babies and children can appreciate the very high quality photos (with a few illustrations thrown in). For such a small book it contains an amazing amount of information!

My daughter (now 15 mos) has long loved books from the "My First Board Book" series. They have great, clear photos (and a few illustrations) that she studies. I bought this one recently for a plane trip because I knew it would keep her occupied for a while. In addition to the usual suspects, this book includes animals not usually found in most animal baby books, such as a mongoose, hedgehog, hyena, insects, and varieties of birds and fish. And I love that they've taken the time to use the correct names of the baby animals (foal, fawn, joey, cygnet, etc.). All this AND it's bilingual -- what's not to love?!

I didn't really know what to expect from this book. The reviews for it were good, but in my mind I was expecting only a handful of words to be introduced in this book. I was very wrong! The pages of this book are FULL of beautiful pictures and the words in both Spanish and English. I am very impressed with this book, the number of words it introduces as well as the excellent quality of the photos and the book itself.

My daughter has had this book since she was 6 months old (she is now 15 months old). This is one of her absolute favorite books. I have found her many times sitting on the floor flipping through this book. Of course, it has helped me teach her the names of animals in Spanish. It has also helped me teach her all the sounds that the animals make. We LOVE this book!

I got this book for my 15-month-old twins, thinking that I'd like to begin introducing them to Spanish words at the same time they were learning English words. I don't use the Spanish much right now, but it has been a fantastic book for teaching my kids about animals! There is so much variety, so they don't get bored like they do with some other books that have just four or five animals. Both of them can pick out emus, flamingos, starfish, crabs, bison, and a host of other animals that they wouldn't see in most other children's books. It has been great for their creativity too - I have acted out the sound and/or movement for many of these animals, and they, in turn, "read" the book themselves and act out all of these animal noises and movements! I think I would be just as happy with the English version, but why not go ahead and get the bi-lingual version for an extra learning opportunity!?

Great starter book for the price.
If you are at the point of "thinking about getting it"... then get it.
It should not disappoint. Good translations and simple.
Like to keep my reviews short and to the point.
