2.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this so much... November 4, 2007

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I thought this would be a great way to refresh my memory of Spanish vocab from back in high school. And it isn't.

The game is very limited in scope and you don't actually have to learn any Spanish at all to beat most of the games and move on to the next levels. If you make an effort, you can surely learn a lot of vocab from this, but my natural inclination with things like the matching games was to match the icons and not the words, for instance. This is my fault in the end, to be sure, but this game would be far more useful if the games were better designed.

The Spanish-English dictionary is nice, but otherwise, this is a once-through game that might teach you some limited Spanish vocabulary with a great deal of effort.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring puzzle game November 14, 2007
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
The story line is kinda nuts, the graphics are GameBoy Advance quality, and the sound is monotonous. But the greatest disappointment is that you can't even learn Spanish from this game.

It gives you one-to-one translations for the words, with no phrases or grammar points. And it doesn't even sort the words into "beginner" or "advanced." The difficulty settings make it a bit easier to solve puzzles at lower difficulties, but even at the easiest setting you're still expected to memorize words like "exemplify." Hangman is too hard at the beginner level; even though the game allows you to make nine mistakes, that's not enough when you're trying to guess a difficult Spanish word you've never seen before. The Word search at the beginner level is in English, and it flashes the Spanish translation after you find each word. Words are chosen at random from the game's extensive dictionary, with no regard for what words have appeared before, so you can't review words you've learned.

The best part of this game is the dictionary feature where you can look up words in Spanish or English, and listen to the Spanish pronunciation of many of the words.

If you're already fluent in Spanish, and you like playing hangman, memory games, and word searches over and over and over again, then you might enjoy this game. Otherwise, I recommend My Spanish Coach, which is a game from which you can actually learn Spanish.

1.0 out of 5 stars Racist innuendo ? November 7, 2007
By Bruce
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
All you have to do is research this game on Kotaku.com or Destructoid or watch videos of this on You tube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The game has a story that is writhe (sic) with stereotypical characters that border on blatant racism. Sure it's got that cute cartoon drawing look to it but it is not what it seems. The story starts with a kid playing his DS and his friend Miguel asks to play with it. The boy shares it with him but Miguel's father arrives in a Limo (He's shady and you never see his face, only his eyes) and he forgets to return the DS to the boy. The Limo speeds off and cop cars give chase! (WTF?) His aunt Gina arrives and offers him a ride to Tijauna and she says "I can teach you many things...and spanish is one of them" (Yeesh) Now mind you , she drives him to Tijuana but then drops him off BY HIMSELF and so he hitches a ride with a bull that talks to him and says that "The boy is the chosen one" all the while the bull "is going to meet his maker, today"

He then meets up with his Uncle in the ghost town of "La Zorra" ( wich in spanish is not something kids should repeat; it can mean bitch or vagina or just the fox)where he is an "Exporter" (of what I wonder) and he has to meet a "financer". But don't worry because "no one will hurt us if we ride together" Okay Tio " Jeeps are cool!"

Please Dont buy this game. You will not learn spanish and it wil teach your children racial bigotry and perpetuation of stereotypes. I hope they get sued.(sic)

1.0 out of 5 stars really pathetic August 26, 2008

I strongly suggest as an alternative My Spanish Coach, which is a great learning tool. Spanish For Everyone is pretty useless. Does not really teach in a manner that helps you retain words. Maybe young kids would like it, but as a almost intermediate Spanish student , I would NOT recommend at all.
