2.0 out of 5 stars No categories, October 17, 2008
This review is from: Spanish Grammar Study Cards (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
I hate to rate these so low, but I was very disappointed by the lack of categories. The cards are all identical in appearance, although they of course cover different grammar concepts. There is no way to study any concept in particular (pronouns, say, or specific tenses)-- you just have to mow through the massive stack of 1,000 cards and study things at random. This is not helpful for me as a beginning student with certain things I need to review (and other concepts I'm not ready for, and would like to be able to locate and set aside). I was also not clear if the cards are in the box in a particular order (say, from easy to difficult). I hope not, since the cards aren't numbered, and are easily mixed up. In order to make good use of a student's time, I think this series really needs to contain clearly marked categories and/or progressive levels of difficulty, like a textbook would. As it stands, this box of cards is analogous to a textbook with the pages strewn around at random. Hope Berlitz rethinks this approach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average study aid. No particular methods, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Spanish Grammar Study Cards (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
The only good function I can imagine these flash cards serving is to occupy yourself while waiting at a doctor's office or for a train, and getting in some Spanish practice rather than pacing up and down the platform or reading the public health announcements on the wall. There really is not methodology to these cards, and they are not ordered particularly well. Carrying around a thousand of them would be fairly cumbersome, as the set weighs over 1 1/2 pounds. Best bet is to take 100 of them with you, review them when you can. After you learn them thorougly, go on to the next 100. You could just as easily use an electronic device for the learning, but if you're tired of pressing buttons, this might be a change of pace. Not much else to commend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great aid in studying Spanish!, August 30, 2008
This review is from: Spanish Grammar Study Cards (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
I have been studying Spanish on and off for a few years now and I LOVE IT! I used to be pretty fluent. But, unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to use it much lately... and I forgot a lot of things, mainly verb conjugations. I bought Berlitz Spanish Grammar flashcards because I wanted to try something other than going through a grammar book. I'm really happy with the purchase. The cards are durable, fun to use, cover a big chunk of grammar, and are excellent for reviewing what I learned a long time ago. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
