4.0 out of 5 stars Facinating Spanish Influence on Classical Forms, January 11, 2006
This review is from: Spanish Music of the Golden Age (Audio CD)
'Spanish Music of the Golden Age' by the Extempore String Ensemble is the sort of thing you want to hear when you are exploring some of the further reaches of classical European music. While the ensemble is the same collection of instruments you may find in a French, Italian, or German chamber ensemble between 1600 and 1700, the music has a distinctly Iberian lilt to it, almost as easily recognized as the hackneyed 'Irish' lilt.

If your primary interest is old SPANISH music, you may be more interested in Begona Olavide and similar folk centered music, but this shows the progression from Spanish folk to European classicism.

Recommended.
