5.0 out of 5 stars So So Scarey
I read this book a few years ago while on holiday and i got some strange looks from others on the beach. Not surprisingly looking at the cover and the name. How wrong they were. This book is brilliant. You sympathise with Martyn so much and can totally understand why he falls for the charms of spanky. Spanky appears to be so nice and charming but turns into everyones...

Deals with the devil are common enough through literature, however, in this version of the old tales, you can see why one would be willing to make that deal! Spanky is Charismatic, seductive and seemingly innocent enough as 23-year-old Martyn takes...

This book is brilliant. You sympathise with Martyn so much and can totally understand why he falls for the charms of spanky. Spanky appears to be so nice and charming but turns into everyones nightmare. He is so horrible and nasty. This is one read i would totally recommend. I have given my book to so many people and i havent had one bad report.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faustus of 21st Century, April 8, 2002

A brilliantly crafted tale about the Faustian deal, Fowler has recreated the classical tale and made it his own. Fowler redefines the horror genre altogether with this tale and pushes the entire genre onto a higher platform. He'd put the other American horror masters like Koontz, King and Straub to shame. Horror has found its new home in London, England. A horror feast that chills to the marrow.

Deals with the devil are common enough through literature, however, in this version of the old tales, you can see why one would be willing to make that deal! Spanky is Charismatic, seductive and seemingly innocent enough as 23-year-old Martyn takes 'Spancialosaphus Lacrimosae', his own personal demon up on a little deal guaranteed to sweeten his pathetic life. A tale of demonic possession which gradually turns from good to very, very bad.
Spanky brings out the dark unscrupulous side and with Fowler in the control booth, you get your fair share of gore, as the demon collects his due...
Never a moments dull reading! An absolute MUST read for horror fans!
