Excellent Songs, Great Voice,
By A Customer
This review is from: Spare Change (Audio CD)
This record is pretty much Luther Russell with his guitar and a piano, singing songs from his heart with all the raw emotion and power of a veteran singer songwriter. Formerly of the American Recording artist The Freewheelers, this effort is nothing like their 1996 recording "Waitin' for George" with all its raw, electric power. This one is more like an intimate evening in a dark, small venue. His excellent voice and songs come thru loud and clear, just no clinking cocktail glasses and (happily) no chattering industry types right behing you babbling through the quiet parts. For Freewheelers fans, or anyone who enjoys hearing a great singer stripped down to just his voice and one or two acoustic instruments, this recording is for you!

a friend insisted i listen to this, and i feel it's easily the best record i'll hear all year. it's raw as hell, but real and honest. of all the things luther does, songwriting seems to be the best. run out and buy this if you can find it! you won't regret it.
