4.0 out of 5 stars convenient rack - especially if you rent
Extremely lightweight and easy to install; because it is pressure-mounted, you don't need to make any holes in the wall, floor, or ceiling. It's a little awkward to mount two bikes, though not impossible. An excellent product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sparehand - Bargain price/bargain results
I purchased one of these lower price units and also one of the Topeak pole units. The Topeak shows German engineering and much higher quality so it is easy to understand why it costs more. The adjustment of the Sparehand is crude but probably adquate if using in a garage with concrete floor and if your are not worried about your ceiling. The Sparehand will stay in the...

The adjustment of the Sparehand is crude but probably adquate if using in a garage with concrete floor and if your are not worried about your ceiling. The Sparehand will stay in the garage with only my spare bikes on it.

I'm very pleased with the product. It worked exactly as stated, and being a renter has created a great place to put my bike without taking up a lot of space.

I was very satisfied with this product. Perhaps the best thing about it is that it is so EASY to set up. If you are like me, you get that sinking feeling when you order a product, take it out of the box and realize that putting it together is going to be a major fiasco. No so with this product. ANYONE can take this out of it's box, set it up and put two bikes on it within a couple on minutes. The manufacturer of this product understands the KISS Theory: Keep it simple, stupid!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Rack!!, July 12, 2010

This rack is holding two 35lb. mountain bikes with no problems. It looks good also with its chrome and black finish. Just for insurance...I have inserted a screw into the knotch beneath the top rack to stop it in a case where it would slide down the pole. I don't think that it will happen though because it seems plenty tight. The hardest part is lifting the top bike in place. Most people can do this easy enough. Just make sure that the floor and ceiling are good and solid where you install the rack. There is no need to over-tighten it to the ceiling. Just use enough pressure to keep it firmly in place. I installed mine where my closet juts out into my garage. I was able to position it near the corner of this which allowed the handle bars to hang around the corner. This allowed me to keep the rack even closer to the wall and saving more space.

It holds up one Electra Beach Cruiser and one Micargi Stretch Beach Cruiser. It looks really good. It does seem shaky. Overall it has not had any problems and I am considering getting another.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spare Hand Q Rak Dual Rack and Dual Bike Storage Rack Diff Price/Same Product?, July 25, 2008
This review is from: SpareHand Q-Rak Dual Bike Rack - Floor To Ceiling Storage Rack (Sports)
There is another DUAL BIKE RACK made by the SAME Spare Hands Company and AMAZON is using the SAME picture for both racks. One is $54 with 7 comments and the other is $59 with over 20 reviews. It looks like they are the SAME RACK being sold through Amazon by 2 different companies for 2 different prices. Called Amazon and rep could not confirm or deny any differences. I am going with the $59 bike rack simply because it has better reviews.

This bike rack is very sturdy. It is easy to put together. And, most importantly it is stable and holds 2 bikes perfectly. I ordered 2 originally and just ordered a 3rd for a relative as a gift as he liked mine.

I own a Topeak two up bike stand (the self standing version). I wanted second, simple rod type stand to hang my girl's bikes on a covered space between the garage and the house. I paid for the Topeak $150 (self standing unit, the pole costs $129). Based on construction, features, ease of use and reliability, it could easily cost $200 and still be worth it. This one costs $54, and it is barely worth $30.

Buy the Topeak pole for $129, enjoy years of outstanding service. When you are done with it, you should not have any problems at all getting $75 bucks for it on craigslist. Or buy this one, suffer through the flimsiness and the fact that things can't be tighten enough to where it holds the bikes reliably, and at the end of the day chuck it on the trash because the top tube is too bent to be able to sell the unit.

To be honest, if the pole doesn't need to be extended more than six feet it should work just fine. The longer you go, the more it bends when you try to get it tight enough to hold the bikes. On an 8-foot plus space it starts to look like a drawn bow ready to spring.
