Book Description

Copywriter by day, nerd by night, Hailey Holloway is living the post college dream. Her life may not be flashy and exciting but it’s enough for her. After a late night at work, Hailey stumbles upon two dragons brawling in the middle of Philadelphia. In an act of kindness and lapse of sanity, she comforts the dragon who was left behind to die. In doing so she inadvertently invited the soul of Dacea into herself for safe keeping. Hailey just wants to live her life as simply and quietly as possible but with the voice of a disembodied dragon in her head, she has little hope of achieving her goal.

Dacea will do anything to be free of Hailey, a human who is moments from checking herself into a psychiatric ward. He is grateful to be alive, but at what cost to his sanity? The dragon world is in upheaval. Green is at war with Red, and he is of no use to anyone while stuck with Hailey.

The solution to their problem is not without its risks. But just how far will Hailey go to be free of the dragon?

4.0 out of 5 stars A for Effort! April 15, 2014
By Wendy M
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Poor Hailey Holloway is trying to convince herself she isn't crazy...and the decidedly male voice in her head isn't helping!

I enjoyed this debut novel from new author K.C. Stewart. Hailey finds her courage through out this book, and it is good to see. References to LOTR, everyone's favorite Time Lord, and even the Magic School Bus make this a fun, adventurous read. The ending doesn't leaving you hanging (thankfully), but still leaves you wondering what happens next, because, HELLO, still a bad guy running around!

Per the author, this book is currently in re-edits, so my initial issue with the editing is already being fixed. With that being said, I definitely would suggest this book. It is a good afternoon by the fire, or even day at the beach, type of read. I would recommend waiting until the edits are complete, though, so you can fully enjoy the story. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down. April 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I stayed up till three a.m. just unable to stop in the middle. Then when I woke up I just had to keep going. I had tot know what happened. I don't regret it at all. A wonderfully original story, with an ending that tore me up a bit. This is a great read. The characters were engaging and made me really want to know more about each one of them. I found myself tearing up a bit when the walls came down for Hailey, and I was super glad to watch her growth throughout the book. I'm now off to stalk K.C. for the next one ;) lol jk!

5.0 out of 5 stars great start for a dragon series! October 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I never know what I’m going to get when I pick up a new book by an author I haven’t read. Well this one sealed the deal, I’m a fan!!! A big one :) This is the first book of the series, and holy HAWT fire breathing dragons, I’m all in! I am quite impressed with this book and it’s plot and great characters. And let me say outright, just jump into book two asap, because you’ll love book one so much!

Hailey is a normal everyday girl. She has a normal job, some really crappy parents, and funny best friend and co-worker. And then she sees a man being attacked in the park. And BOOM, in her trying to help, she has somehow locked a dragon dude’s soul into hers. Well, now she’s stuck with him talking in her mind, and trying to find a way to get him out. She cracked me up. She would fight with him, in her head, then forget and talk out loud. It was definitely a crazy ride. And then, she has to keep a watch because the dragon who did this to him still wants to kill him, even if it means killing her. Yeah, there’s a lot of crazy happening all at once. Her only flaw, she really needs to learn to stand up for herself, which she eventually does, but confrontation shouldn’t be so hard.

Now Dak, aka Dacea, he’s the former king of the red dragons, which is significant. He’s got crazy friends that you’ll meet, like Darby, the witch. And the Lia the muse pops up. Yeah, it’s awesome. But at first, he’s a little condescending. He doesn’t understand the modern world, he’s quite old. And in the process, he changes Hailey, and she changes him. Plus, Dak has to realize that he isn’t the only one he has to worry about now, he’s stuck in Hailey, so she’s just as important, if not more so, than himself and boy did he get a couple of crash courses with some whip lash!

Hailey Holloway stumbles upon two dragons one night. Before she realizes it she invited the soul of one into her. That soul was a red dragon named Dacea. She wakes up the next morning realizing that she can hear the dragon’s voice inside of her head. She believes herself to be crazy because of the voice.
Once I picked up the book I had a hard time putting it down. The characters and the supernatural world that was created was fantastic and put together very well. The plot was well decided and well followed throughout the story. The author helps you to picture everything as you read the book. As you go into the book you learn more of the supernatural world. It helps you to learn the history and about each individual dragon by the colors that a dragon has. It helps you to understand the characters and book as you continue to read it. I absolutely loved all the characters and enjoyed how the characters developed with the story.
One part that I really enjoyed was the banters between Hailey and Dacea. They made it pretty funny throughout the story. It helped you to experience the feelings they were going through. This book also had a lot of action in it.
I enjoyed the outcome of the story. It also leaves you wanting more of these characters. I look forward to the next book coming out to see what happens with them. If you like supernatural romance then you should really check this book out.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a page turner! April 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I know that sounds cliché, but WOW!!! This is the first book in the Hailey Holloway series. I can not wait for the next one. This book made me laugh out loud and ugly face cry. Only great authors can tap into those emotions and make you feel what the character is feeling. You, Ms. Stewart, have done that for me. This book has got everything from the unlikely heroine to the wickedly evil villain.

I found a lot of myself in Hailey. She was a very relatable character. She's that girl that doesn't really fit in and keeps her emotions locked inside while people tend to steam roll over her. She grows immensely as a person. I enjoyed seeing the change from a repressed wall flower to brave heroine.

Let us not forget that sexy dragon that's trapped inside her head. I know. Sounds crazy, right? You'll find out how he got there, and what it's going to take to remover him from her head and return him to the normal King of the Red Dragons. I also enjoyed seeing the change in Dacea, or 'Dak,' as Hailey calls him. Even though Hailey is fated to be his Mate, he thinks he needs to separate from her and get as far away as possible, as fast as he can. It's the only way to keep her safe and to guard his shattered heart from losing someone he might care for. How's that working for you, Dak?

I must mention Darby, the witch, and Lia, goddess and muse. They are the two other lovely ladies that are accomplices in trying and take down the wicked Silas. He would be the nasty Green Dragon, set out to take control of all four Sects of dragons and keep all of Dacea dead, not just his body.

I know it all sounds bonkers, but this is one crazy train you will want to hop on and and buckle yourself in for the ride.

K.C. Stewart is the self published author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn't until she began writing flash fiction and that she made those fantasies a reality. Now she has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn't taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherd and cats in central Pennsylvania.
