This is a compact lifesaver if your in the situation where you need fire. The small size is great as it can be stowed anywhere. The actual size is about 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes. The pieces of cotton "tinder" that are included, ignite effortlessly. The tinder is impregnated with a light oil to accelerate ignition in a moist environment. Having the water proof case is also an added plus.

Just the striker would be worth it. It will literally start thousands of fires as is and with extra flints (standard Zippo(tm) flints) it will start tens of thousands. This is the updated version of the tinder box concept. In the small plastic box, you have enough tinder to start several fires and a striker to do it with. If you want a survival fire starter the size of a kitchen match, the striker in this package is just the ticket.

The striker is cheap but effective enough to the light the tinder. The tinder is tightly woven and treated with a flamable substance so it catches quickly. And the whole package is smaller than a pack of smokes.
