Amazing "best of" album, January 19, 2005

This collection of songs from his first three albums (and one EP) shows much of the creativity and awesome musicianship of Ashton Nyte (singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist). While there are some songs that aren't here that I think should have been, for the most part this does a really good job of showing the "best of". This is goth/rock at it's finest.
This band deserves more attention as Ashton is a prolific songwriter, writing honest, poetic songs. Not only that, he is a really nice, humble guy. My wife and I met him during his first ever US Tour this past October in Mississippi. Seeing as he isn't too well known over here (he's from South Africa), we were the only two people that showed up to see them (besides a handful of other people there for the opening act, and they didn't have a clue who The Awakening were) . Even though they could've skipped this gig (they had a 15 hour drive non-stop to do another gig in another town two or three states away the next night), Ashton insisted on performing. They played 11 songs (dedicating one to my wife for her birthday) and played like there were a hundred people there. They blew the other band and their friends away. Afterwards, Ashton asked my wife if they sounded okay (to which she responded "Yes! Of course!"), and thanked us for driving out to see them. It was an amazing night I will never forget.
